Most Helpful Positive Review Best 3x18x50 you can buy under $500
Best buy ive ever made. You get it all with this scope. Recticle is next lever do wish I had floating dot not chevron tho. The glass is crystal clear and turrets are extremely nice. The illumination is really nice too but I dont use it much. I would think its hard to find a better 3x18x50 scope on the market under $500.

Very crisp and clear, even around edges. Haven't used it much yet. Took quite a while to get here, but works excellent.
Pros:
  • Clear holds zero
Cons:
  • Shipping is super slow

Primary arms 3-18

by John H, from FL, United States Written on December 8, 2023
I have the Apollo version of this and it is good for the money. It is not as nice as more expensive optics but the glass is clear and the reticle is fine. The drops are different depending on barrel length and round so make sure you shoot enough to learn your holds. That was the con to this, it is not as strait forward as advertised.
Pros:
  • Price
Cons:
  • Clarity, bullet drop not as advertised
Best Used for:
  • Hunting/dmr/target shooting

$400 paper weight

The lack of clarity and stiff operation of the power adjustment are a huge disappointment. The illumination feature has to be the poorest I've experienced.

Be aware in your expectations of illumination.

by Randy, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on May 18, 2023
I have two of these. The first one I bought has the Apollo 6.5 Creedmoor reticle in it. THAT scope has full reticle illumination. It's bright and crisp. No complaints. The glass and everything are just fine as to be expected from Primary Arms scopes.
Being as I liked that one so much I decided to buy another in the .308/6.5GRN Apollo reticle. Same reticle, different illumination. With the .308 version, ONLY THE CHEVRON in the middle is illuminated. I sent it back to Primary Arms thinking it was defective, and ultimately sent it back for a refund. This may be fine if that is what you like and/or are looking for, but that is not what I thought I was ordering and I will go another route. Again, the scope itself and optics looked just fine. No complaints on that.
If this difference in illumination of the same reticle between calibers was made readily apparent in the advertising, I could have made a more informed buying decision and saved a lot of hassle. Hence the reason I am laying this out in the review.
Pros:
  • Good alternative to high end scopes
  • 3-18 is a nice variable magnification to have
Cons:
  • reticle illumination varies by caliber
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Target & Competition Shooting
