Most Helpful Positive Review Not the standard "budget level" Primary Arms Scope
This Primary Arms Platinum scope is very similar to another companies (That starts with T) 1-8x first focal plain scope. Both models are likely made in the same factory in Japan. I own both. The only major difference is reticle. If you want the ACSS reticle in a first focal plane 1-8x ffp scope,...

The best 1-8

by Matt, from IL, United States Written on February 3, 2022
I’ve tried so many scopes in the 1-8 and 1-6 range, and this seems to have the best all around package. Reticle is the best, it’s first focal plane, lifetime warranty, and the glass is perfection. I had the Trijicon 1-8 Accupower scope and this is clearer, with a more daylight bright reticle. Only downside is she is a little heavy, but most high end 1-6 or 1-8 are. My favorite LPVO for sure!

Questioned my purchase..........until I put it on the rifle

by Daniel, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on December 12, 2021
I have never written a review so bear with me. First off, I ordered this optic as an impulse buy after reading all the reviews about it. I ended up ordering it from OP with a 10% off coupon. Then I kept going back to the few negative reviews on here about it. I started to question if spending over 1K on it was really the best allocation of funds. I just kept thinking of the bad reviews over the dozens of rave reviews on here and everywhere else. Then I got the optic in. First impression was its heavy, but that's not necessarily bad. This thing is built like a tank! It seems rugged but is so finely tuned with every attention to detail being spot on. The magnification ring is so smooth and really feels ultra quality in hand. Then I looked through the reticle and it is flat out amazing! They put every thought into this thing. You can realistically range targets out to 600m and do so with a reticle that's not overly busy. I bought the Raptor over the Griffin model because I didn't feel the additional hold overs were something I would realistically ever use. Plus, I liked the fact that there is less going on inside the window. I promise you I would absolutely buy this again. For the money you get such amazing quality that is normally seen in scopes in the 2K plus range. The reticle is second to none. They literally thought of everything with this scope. The only one small thing I wish it had was a throw lever on it. Not because the magnifier is hard to turn but because it's faster...

Pros:
  • Crystal clear glass, great eye box, hands down the best reticle in any optic out there

  • weight, no throw lever

Very good scope with 1 drawback

by Jay, from CA, United States Written on February 3, 2021
I purchased the Primary Arms Platinum Series 1-8x24mm FFP Riflescope from optics planet, it arrived in 2 days. This is the best scope in this price range, only drawback is the weight, you will add almost 2 pounds on the top of your rifle with the mount. Other than that, it is fantastic.
Pros:
  • Top class glass and reticle
  • Top glass and reticle
Cons:
  • weight
Best Used for:
  • Shooting from 400 yards away

Packed with features and clear glass

by Ed, from GA, United States Written on January 14, 2021
This scope has some nice features and very clear glass. Mine is mounted on an AR with an 18” barrel chambered in 223 wylde and is part of a system that holds 1moa with factory loads (10 round validation, not “poser” 3 round checks). I’ve run the system out to 600 yards and had no problem scoring hits, and have run it dialed to 1x on bay-style competition arrays. I was satisfied in all scenarios.. Decent eye box on 1x and good brightness clarity at 8x. It’s a little heavy, but so are most of the other contenders in this space.

Why 4 stars:
Glass a tad blurry at edges at 8x (but why would you try to look through the edges?)

Overall happy with the pick.
Best Used for:
  • Competition and hunting

Great working sight

by Cruncher, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on November 6, 2018
This is the first time I’ve written a review so don’t judge to harsh. I bought this based on its spec and the reviews. I use this on a LWRCI 5.56 that is my primary working gun I carry daily on a south west ranch. There are two negatives. The weight is heavy. But it is really tough. I need that. The eye box on 8x is tight but still usable. On 6 and below it is great. For me those negatives are far outweighed by the positives. It is cristal clear, tough as nails and the reticle is really fast and usable from close up out to 800 yards. The turrets work and the illumination has all the range needed. Overall this is a great working scope that really works.
Pros:
  • overall quality
  • usability
Cons:
  • It is heavy

Platinum piece of mud

by mike, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on November 3, 2018
I zeroed this sight in with a laser. Was not able to really test it at the range because of Spinal Surgery. when I took it to the range, mounted on a custom built AR-15 with a match grade barrel. the scope would not keep a zero. I thought it was human error, a $1200 scope that once zeroed, and 2 shots later, was off 4 inches. 90 rounds was all over the target. I removed the scope and placed an Eotech EXPS3, what a difference, 1/2 inch MOA at 75 yards. 90 rounds later I shot out all the centers of the targets. I removed the Eotech and put the PA back on, and it was all over the target again, even when mounted on a sled. I do all my setups with a solid sled. This is $1,200 of junk. I buy most of my scopes on Optics Planet. This Primary Arms Platinum Series 1-8X24mm FFP Riflescope was purchased May 15 2017 as a Birthday gift to myself. I bought the PA scope and a Sig Sauer Tango6 2-12x40mm Riflescope. thats over $2,000 and the cheaper Sig is a better scope.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Would not hold zero

Gold Standard !

by jj, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on September 18, 2018
I have been searching for a 1-8X scope for a while. I was looking at Trijicon, Leupold, Zeiss, Steiner ... for the 1-8x scopes. My criteria are reticle, glass clarity, and price. All of my scopes are Trijicon so I was a bit of skeptical about this scope at first. At the end, I decided to select this PA 1-8x Platinum series. The price when I buy this scope is about the same as the Trijicon 1-8x Accupower, but the PA ACSS reticle won my heart. The glass’s clarity is awesome (9 to 10 compare to the European scopes. For this budget scope, you can’t complain). The magnification of 1x is the closet true 1x I’ve ever seen before. This scope is rugged and feel like a tank (most of high-end scopes are heavy as expected). The lifetime warranty is unbeatable compare to other high-end scopes. I love scope so much. Very proud of PA for stepping up their great work and put this product on the market to compete with “big brothers” in the scope’s industries. Also appreciate Optics Planet for their great service!
Pros:
  • Reticle, Clariry, Price
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Recreational shooting, 3-gun

One scope to rule them all!

by sp6700, from VA, United States Written on July 22, 2018
I've been researching LVPOs for a multi-function scope for months so bear with me on this review. The criteria I used to narrow my options were clarity, forgiving eye box, light transfer, price, place of manufacture, magnification (>4x), warranty, durability, daylight bright illum., near 1x magnification, company reputation, and reticle type. This list allowed me to focus on optics by Sig, Vortex, Leupold, Trijicon, Steiner, Aimpoint, and this fella. I compared all to what folks consider to be the "gold standard" in this category - the Vortex Razor HD Gen II. I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant to place Primary Arms onto this list. Don't get me wrong, their budget line is pretty great from what I hear but the extra $1k forced me to really scrutinize their Platinum offering. Luckily, several prominent online gear & tactic reviewers played a crucial role in my decision to place this scope onto my short list. I’ll tell you that after my analysis was complete, I felt good when I finally made the decision to spend what I consider to be a sizeable chunk of money on the Primary Arms Platinum 1-6 ACSS.

So, now that I own it, here’s why I chose this scope. The light transfer is unbelievable. This is largely due to the huge 34mm tube. The edges are crisp at low power and even at 8x there is minimal fisheye. This is about as close to 1x as possible, which makes for lighting fast target acquisition (with or without illum.). As this is a FFP scope, the reticle changes from a “donut...
