I have used the PWS ratchet castle nut and endplate on 10 by builds. I use to stake all my castle nuts but this system is better for my needs. I've never had any back out on me and they are super easy to install. Also easy to remove when needed. Some people say they back out and that it isn't good to reuse them as the detent will wear down but I've never had anything like that happen over the past two years of using them. If you don't want to be bothered with staking the castle nut or or this is your first build then I highly recommend this product.

I'm guessing i'm not the only one who has had a castle nut wrench slip and chew up the nut / scratch a buffer tube... this is the solution!
As a bonus it makes changing the buffer tube much easier and cleaner than having to stake and re-stake a castle nut.
Easy to use, looks great, work even better. Only problem is the p[rice is kind of ridiculous for a castle nut and end plate.

This setup is a little pricy but well worth the opportunity to skip staking the castle nut.
Perhaps I haven't done it enough or maybe my vise isn't all that great but I have found stake a castle nut a chore the lower always seems to shift a little in the vise.
This combination might be $30 more than the simple castle nut and endplate but it's worth it to me, plus at is much easier to change out if you want to.

These PWS ratcheting castle nuts are awesome. No need to stake and they don’t back out. I love them and put them on all my builds.

I have no idea how i missed these in the past but I’m glad i have them how. Super impressed with how they securely lock up and are slim enough to not add extra space. Definitely my standard now. A must have.

It's nice to not have to stake the castle nut down with the plate and having the qd point is nice too

I prefer this endplate and castle nut as there is no need to stake it in place. This systems stays put everytime on several different setups. Easy to change out if needed or changing buffer tubes.

The PWS end plate and castle nut are my go to on all my builds now. Easy on and off with the ratcheting system, very nice. No staking necessary.
