The Archangel AAM1A is a great addition to an M1A. I did do some fitting (filing) to get a perfect fit for my SA SOCOM 16 CQB. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants to squeeze a bit more accuracy from the M1A platform.
Pros:
- good value & worth overall cost
Cons:
- Normally needs fitted to the trigger group

I have match version of an M1A 7.62x51mm rifle. I got it with the rear sight defective. I replaced it an it works great.
I wanted a rifle that that I can do more precision shooting with. There were a few spaces on the stock that I filed down. The trigger area needed some slight reduction for the trigger assembly to fit. To have it fit into the upper reciever adequately the defined area to file down for it to fit was the last piece to file down for a fit.
I got the picatinny scope mount, along with scope and rings. The adjustable cheek rest, I can get a solid cheek weld, for either the scope or through the iron sights.
The adjustable stock and cheek made it more ergonomically than the standard issue stock.
I am looking forward to going out to the range to drive tacks.

The M1A Arch Angel precision stock is excellent, it allows me a perfect cheek height, and a comfortable cheek rest, with a perfect length of stock pull. My 3 shot bullet groups at 100 yards have tightened up to a consistent.250 MOA.

This stock looks great but when you spend hours filing this thing to get the trigger assembly to lock in correctly, and then find a large gap between the receiver and the stock, its just not worth the money. Spoke with Promag and they said the gap is normal and that’s how it is because mounted on a Springfield M1A. I seriously doubt the M1A Loaded Precisions from Springfield have gaps like this. Very disappointing

This thing was so horrendously out of spec and file so much I ended up throwing it away . Trigger areas was so tall the lugs won’t even engage the receiver. 10/10 regrets

Not sure if I just got a lemon stock or what, but multiple people are saying this is an easy install. This was NOT and easy install by ANY stretch of the imagination, in fact I would say the stock I recieved simply isn't the right size for the M1A SOCOM 16 receiver. This was SO much more than just some quick filing to get it to sit right, I practically had to carve the stock on almost every internal surface to get a fit, took me at least 5 hours to do and I am not exaggerating at all. I've seen videos of people installing this easily and I just cant imagine how I could ever do that with what I have right now.
This was way more carving than I was expecting and it still doesn't sit right, I watched all the videos I could find, read many posts by other people to try and get this to work, and so far I've gotten the reciever to sit semi-flush and finally lock to the trigger group somewhat easily (still crazy tight). However now with the trigger guard closed the trigger group is being pushed too far up into the stock and is causing the bolt to slightly hang up on the hammer when racking the op rod. I know this probably isn't the end of the world and I might shoot it to see if it improves anything, but it doesn't do this in the OEM stock, and doesn't do it unless the trigger guard is squeezed shut. I'm at the point now where I don't think I can take any more material off the stock and still have the reciever sit flush when assembled.
Pros:
- Looks great
- feels great
- Not very expensive
- adjustable butt pad and cheek riser are good
- larger foregrip helps to keep my fingers off the end of the op rod
Cons:
- Ludicrously tight fit, like impossibly tight without major modification
- still doesn't sit right, looks ok at distance but up close you can see some nasty gaps between the stock and reciever
- causes interference with the bolt and the top of the hammer when tensioned
Best Used for:
- Disappointment
- filing and dremel practice

Well...here I go. The stock is well made,it is pretty well balanced and comfortable. However a little sanding is definitely not going to work on mine, straight to the gun Smith to get it milled so the trigger mechanism seats properly. A little more prep work, and money than I was anticipating.
