nice, reasonably priced, traditionally shaped handguard
If you're looking for a reasonably priced, polymer AK handguard with a "traditional AK" shape, particularly one made in the U.S., this might be the best "bang for the buck."
IMHO, it feels pretty good when installed (again, if you're looking for a traditional shape) and seems to hold up to heat fairly well (there is a heat shield inside the lower piece). I did add a bit of stippling with my solder iron to give a more positive grip...but I do the same thing to nearly all of the polymer handguards I have on my rifles, so I won't hold that against Pro Mag.

This actually had a lot of thought put into it
I was looking for a polymer AK handguard that actually LOOKS LIKE AN AK HANDGUARD and ran across this which at a glance is mostly stylized after a lot of the wooden handguards that are common of the platform. Upon closer inspection and handling, you can see what makes this thing so awesome. While it looks like they used the silhouette of your typical Russian wood handguard to nail down most of the aesthetics, Pro Mag decided to add a few features to improve it for more modern shooting styles. The upper handguard has been given slots for better thumb placement (ideal for C gripping) while the lower handguard was flared out and given little notches. The added heatshield also does an alright job of keeping your hand from burning up compared to a lot of the trash that's included with cheaper AKs these days.
Pros:
- Heat shield
- Swell
- Slots for thumb placement
Cons:
- Picatinny handguard will never hold zero
- Could be grippier
Best Used for:
- Modernized AKs

Red Dot Rail
Your milage may vary, but on my VSKA TRP it was necessary to heavily modify the lower handguard in order to get it into the trunion. Also, on the gas tube, it did not come w the metal locking piece, and it also required modification to accept the metal piece from the original. I may be changing back to my original furniture, but this may be nice for someone else.
Pros:
- It has a rail for a red dot.
Cons:
- May require extensive modification and the rail puts the red dot too far above the barrel. Cannot see irons.

awesome for a great price.
I got it because it had a really low price,plus an additional discount. installation was super easy and tight. folds/unfolds easy. Good cheek height and fits perfect in shoulder when I'm in the high ready. I haven't shot my ak yet,but we will see. only thing I didn't like about it, is these plastic that is in between the skeletol frame. I think it's to support both ends of the stock. but overall it's a good cheap stock.

Good update for your AK rifle
This product is a good quality black polymer, easy to install, good price. It gives different look and personality to your AK rifle. In addition it has a picantiny rail that allows to use optics like a scope on your AK
