I purchased this scope after reviewing 6 models including AGM, ATF, Steiner. I found it to be my best fit. At about 2 lbs with the rangefinder it was about the best. I tried some clip-ons but no good for me since my base scope started at 4x. To use a clip-on you really need a scope that starts around 1x (to much magnification when adding the clip-ons). I also like the base menu system on the Pulsar. I did like the ATN also but the firmware is more complicated and the unit with rangefinder was over 3 lbs. This unit is in the top end. I like the 50mm lens, resolution 640x480 @ 17 µm (NET...

Great Scope

by Katheryn, from ID, United States Written on January 21, 2025
This scope has been instrumental in the take of coyotes for me. It has an excellent image resolution even when the digital zoom is in use. Pulsar’s LRF technology combined with their high thermal sensor has changed the thermal game and made night hunting at longer ranges so much more doable. I love that it has both the internal battery as well as the interchangeable, rechargeable ones, the battery life on this particular scope has been great and I’ve been able to go most of the night on one battery.

Good heat identification. Clarity of image could be better for a $6000 scope. Has a lot of bells and whistles. Needs better battery life.

I purchased the Pulsar 2-16 Thermion 2 LRF XP50 Thermal Imaging Rifle Scope, and mounted in on a Winchester model 70 feather light 6.5 PRC rifle .This has been one of the best purchases I have ever made. Very easy to setup and site in. The Coyotes and Pigs hate it but I just Love it.

Great scope, just really expensive

by Marvin, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on August 12, 2022
I reviewed 6 thermal scopes. Ordered and tried AGM, ATN, Steiner and Pulsar. I chose the Pulsar due to weight (2 lb), clarity on 50mm, 17 micron lense, battery setup, and simplicity. I also liked the ATN at a much better price but the software was more complex and I would rather do my own ballistics. The thermion just seemed a bit more friendly and the rangefinder was builtin. Except for cost I liked this unit the best.
Pros:
  • light weight
  • simple setup
  • 2 batteries, variable
  • focus from either side
Cons:
  • cost, cost cost
Best Used for:
  • night hunting
