Most Helpful Positive Review Review of Pulsar Helion XP38
All I can say is...WOW! I spent several months investigating handheld and rifle thermal scopes, comparing specifications and primarily videos to make a decision. I was taking a risk with the Pulsar Helion as they are brand new and finding one to view in person was impossible but I cannot emphasize how impressed I am with this system. Firstly, do NOT judge the image quality by the videos you see online. The actual image is SIGNIFICANTLY better than anything I have seen in videos. It is like you are looking through a weird standard binocular with everything is in crisp detail, especially at ...

Poor quality product. Stopped charging after 18 months of ownership.

Pulsar builds garbage with little warranty. The repair department can’t fix their own product. Another company selling high price optics with no quality assurance.

Night Vision

by Gkt, from TX, United States Written on December 5, 2018
Works as advertised. Very compact device, clarity and zoom capabilities are better than advertised. The thermal images are crisper, with more definition, than phosphorus green devices. I am looking forward to using when predator hunting
Pros:
  • zoom
Cons:

A must have for anyone who hunts at night!

by Brooklee, from TX, United States Written on November 28, 2018
I am continuously impressed with Pulsar's handheld monoculars, the XP models especially. This unit is helpful for locating and identifying targets quickly while keeping your movement to a minimum. The rechargeable battery pack really sets this unit apart from many of its competitors. You can charge it up and then hunt all night without having to worry about replacing batteries while you're out in the field. The 'standby mode" feature allows you to conserve battery while moving from one area to another, and quickly turn the monocular back on for continued use. The built-in video recording is another plus, along with 8 different color palettes to choose from including white and black hot. Last but certainly not least, the clarity in this unit is awesome! With the 640x480 resolution, you can count on a crisp image. This unit is a must have for hog & predator hunters!!! Scanning fields made easy!
Pros:
  • Ease of use
  • Clarity
  • durable and made well
  • Rechargeable Battery Pack
  • long lasting battery
  • value and quality
  • built in video
Cons:
  • Have not experienced any cons
Best Used for:
  • night hunting
  • Hog Hunting
  • Predator hunting
  • hunting at night
  • Spotting and tracking! This is a night hunters must have item
  • Game identification

Great thermal monocular!

by Joseph Webber, from OR, United States Written on December 28, 2017
I spent some time researching thermal imagers and ultimately decided to go with the pulsar helion. When researching i sent the company an email and they responded quickly. This is my first thermal device so i don't have a lot if experience but looking at videos it appears on par with the other manufactures. After using this for a bit it really is amazing and powerful technology. The helion is easy to use, smooth, very clear and has numerous color pallets. It feels solid and has good ergonomics. It Hooked up to my phone with no issues. You can control the helion with your phone when it is hooked up. There is a 3 year warranty that hopefully i won't have to use. It seems like it could be more of a hassle than dealing with flir or atn, but for the much better price it may be worth it. Optics planet had the best price by far and it arrived quickly.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Clarity
  • Size
  • ease of use and controls well placed
Cons:
  • None yet but will let you know if there end up being any

Great Monocular!

by Jordan, from TX, United States Written on October 3, 2017
The Xp38 has gone above the expectations with the features the monocular has. Pound for pound it is hard to beat. The on board recorder and battery makes the days of Cr123 a thing of the past. One of my favorite features that not many talk about is the Display-off mode. Long nights of hunting I leave my thermal on all night, without having to re-power up every time I think I see something. Saving battery and also not having the screen light glaring at me while driving is a plus. The 640 resolution makes it real easy on the eyes. Being Pulsar's first 640 units, these have exceeded my expectations. This unit is a must have.
Pros:
  • Ease of use
  • Magnification
  • recording
  • BATTERY PACK
  • 640 CORE
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • SCANNING
  • FIRE FIGHTER
