Most Helpful Positive Review Awesome trigger
I purchased this trigger after trying a trigger spring from another company. The spring didn’t work and rifle would slam fire. I just install the Rifle Basix trigger and couldn’t be happier with the results! My trigger went from a 5lb pull down to a 2lb with room to adjust further. The install was simple, very detailed instructions and all the safety features still work on my rifle. Great value for the money!

Great trigger

by Srar, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on June 14, 2025
I added this trigger to a Glenfield model 70 .22. Installation was strait forward, and I ended up with a 1.5 lb trigger pull that is completely safe. I highly recommend this trigger upgrade if you have a Glenfield or Marlin .22

rifle basix marlin trigger!!

by Varminator, from KY, United States Written on December 27, 2024
Product is absolutely as described. Was easy to install. Will definitely utilize Optics planet again for more needs. Adjustments are easy and micro adjustments can be made to fine tune this install. Break is crisp on the fire. Definitely will add to your personal accuracy as the factory trigger is wayyyy to long and hard to pull.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Instruction booklet could be a bit better

I bought this trigger to replace the heavy high travel factory trigger on my Marlin 782. It was very easy to put in and adjust. This new trigger makes the gun a pleasure to shot. 100% recommend.

Rifle Basix trigger for Marlin 882 - Excellent

by mnbobster, from MN, United States Written on June 26, 2023
I bought a used (what else) Marlin 882-SSV .22 magnum and cleaned it carefully and took it to the range. Not impressed, especially with the trigger. 4.5# pull and not smooth. I bought a lighter trigger spring that promised "Reduce your trigger pull from ~4lbs to a modified ~2.5lbs (Average results can vary up to +/- 1lb)" thinking it a cheap ($15 incl. shipping)fix. Installed and lubed the trigger and it changed the pull to 4#. Ordered the Rifle Basix trigger and it was a pretty brainless install and adjust. It set it to 1.75#. Crisp break and 0 creep. Love the rifle now. It was ~$100 with Minnesota (Land of 10K taxes) sales tax and free shipping. It's worth the money because it actually works.
Pros:
  • Works as described
  • Fits Marlin 882-SSV
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Older rifles with crappy trigger
Would recommend: Yes

Works perfect and excellent trigger pull.

by Drew, Verified Owner from KY, United States Written on January 10, 2023
I installed it in a Marlin 880sq and adjusted it to a 2.5# trigger pull. Sear engages 100% of the time, safety functions, and the bolt can still be removed from the receiver. I first adjusted the take up set screw until there was just enough clearance for the safety to engage and then I adjusted the spring tension screw until I was satisfied with the trigger pull weight. I may go a little higher but as it is I have a very crisp 2.5# trigger pull with no perceptible take up that functions perfectly.
Pros:
  • Crisp
  • Only aftermarket Marlin trigger available
  • adjustable in weight
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Target shooting or varmint hunting

Sent it back!!!

by AC, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on October 20, 2021
Trigger is off specification for a Marlin Model 25. As many have said before, factory Safety will no longer function. Firearm can be fired when the Safety is fully engaged. Seer does not engage 1/4 the time when on heaviest setting. In this, seer disconnects from trigger while bolt is being locked into position, setting off the firing pin. In addition, the bolt cannot be removed when the trigger is pulled, even on the lightest setting.

They do mention many things in their instructions.

“Do not trust a manual safety. Always keep a round out of the chamber until ready to fire.” But....they blame it on correct firearms handling. The fact that the factory safety is useless is a design flaw on their part.

Seer would never engage trigger on lightest setting. As you tighten it up, it does engage more. Only about 75% engagement when tightened all the way. Anything less than 100% is unacceptable.

They do mention that bolt would not come out when trigger is depressed when trigger spring is on the heaviest setting. I moved it back to the lightest setting and .... it still would not let the bolt come out. I had to take the action out of the stock and depress the seer with a screwdriver.

In addition, the trigger had sharp edges on the bottom tip of the trigger. Just poor fit and finish. I expect more from a “drop-in” trigger....especially for the price.

The only thing worse than the crappy factory trigger....is this thing. I am going back to the crappy factory Marlin...
