Excellent thermal for shooting within 100 yards. Downside is the minimum magnification is set to 3.5x, and it would be nice if it were 2x for a wider field of view like its big brother the S6. However, menu is easy to use, the recording of your shots automatically is clutch.

Rix S3 is my first thermal unit. I usually get a little frustrated when something is too complicated tech wise etc. This thermal scope is easy to use. Very well built. I think I could easily distinguish coyotes at 300 yrds with this unit. Probably have to move a little slower when panning left to right then some other scopes but for the money I bet I could put the hurt on some coyotes with this scope no issues. If this thermal is in your budget I would not hesitate. Build quality seems really nice. If your budget can go higher a scope with laser range finder(lrf) would be nice. Or just use your milling reticle and take the time to range coyotes that way. I would think that would work too but haven’t confirmed that.

The unit is very nice and light weight but seems to be very durable. I have only used it around the house but fill confident it will be a very dependable piece of equipment for hog hunting.

I thought got great price compered to anywhere else. My first thermal but have played.with friends before, 1 has S2 & loves but i wanted 35mm & 388 to see clearer farther, so small and light, can put in pocket and use like monocular but will mount on rifle soon, just trying to learn buttons. Biggest issue manual dont explain 2nd item on screen what & how to use A,B,C,U,Etc projection letters. Going call Rix over. Glad I got S3, Lucky ordered nice ATN before Xmas,late coming, Amazon said delivered, had pic but was apple phone cord & was long time mess getting my money back, was from Dec 23rd 2024 thru Feb 6th 2025 when got refund by then had researched and talk friends who had ATN & remember helping guy try download updates so scope would work and was nightmare then reviews on newer style ATN people still having issues then size & weight.Really love S3, so many options, few buttons, works great and later cant wait to try their new 35mm 640 one and hope has range finder.

Excellent thermal to include the price. Easy to setup. Zero’d and shot several hogs on my first night. First thermal after using IR for years and would recommend to anyone. Quick detach mount is great for scanning if you don’t have a scanner.

This is worth the money in every way made a great second thermal

Very user friendly, imaging is on point, also very simple to sight in. Recommend buying if you're buying your 1st thermal
