Rothco lightweight plate carrier - Rothco Lightweight Armor Plate Carrier Vest

Had read/watched nothing but good reviews.

I'm not military and hoped to only depend on this in a self defense/active shooter situation. I purchased this to train on the range and in the gym. Out of the box it felt pretty good and decent quality. I was worried about the shoulder straps. I put two 10x12 level III plates with trauma pads. They fit snug, I personally did not realize the dimensions of the carrier are 10X13. So the top was a bit floppy. This brought the carriers weight to 17lbs (plus or minus). The built in mag pouches worked well and the admin pouch has pistol mag inserts (cool, but would likely never use).

Prior to the range test, I used this vest for a workout. The Crossfit box I workout in does Murph every memorial day. I thought. "What better way to test this plate carrier?" Now that I think about it, I did use it for a body weight workout prior to Murph.

200 push ups

must use 20lbs plate carrier

Long story short, the straps started to rip from the front plate carrier (about half way through). Two uses and the thing is falling apart to a state that is not usable or easy to fix. Do not waste your money on look a like Crye JPC plate carriers. I doubt this thing would hold up in Airsoft (not an Airsofter)!?

I reached out to both Rothco and OpticsPlanet to see if this was just a quality control thing. Nothing could be done and I was out of time to return.
