Magic's Review of Sig Sauer Tango MSR LPVO 1-6x24mm, 30mm Tube, Rifle Scope, Second Focal Plane

Received this on Friday and used the sh*t out of it this weekend. Sighting in at a busy range was a bit tricky because the turrets are just so quiet and not very tactile .....AT ALL. Dial faces leave a bit to be wished for. That being said, once it was zeroed in, it was a set-it-and-forget it deal. Honestly bought the scope without expectations, due to it's crazy low price. Figured that for the price and features, I'd give it a shot and return it right back if I didn't like it. Well, it looks like this lil' scope has found a permanent home atop my JAKL. After 650'ish rounds through it over the weekend, I'm thoroughly impressed. This is my first LPVO and won't be my last. Clarity of the glass right up to 4.5-5X is crazy good for something that's a quarter of the price of my next least expensive scope. Not to say the clarity above that is bad but it does drop off, yet stays absolutely useable. No noticeable fisheye or fringing even around the edges. The reticle was super intuitive to me, especially for never having used a BDC reticle in my life. Eye relief is great, although, eye box gets a little tight at 4X and above. With proper cheek weld, that shouldn't be a problem for seasoned shooters. One thing I could note that needs improvement is the illumination knob. Being that it does not have an automatic on/shutdown feature, an OFF setting between ON settings would make this scope just so much greater. Found out once I had returned home from the range that I'd left the illumination on after training session, thinking I'd clicked it off from the last setting it was used at. As for the reticle illumination itself, I found it to be quite useable in dim-lit conditions. Cranking it up to fire at extended ranges on the outdoor range, it left nothing to be desired. Chevron was sufficiently lit up to see against a bright hillside. The magnification ring definitely benefits from the included screw-on throw lever. Even though having a stud style throw lever kind of scares me while practicing CQB. It just has the feel of being easily snagged and possibly snapped off on obstacles, although I didn't experience this after several hours of CQB training. Taking it out to range, it allowed me to very comfortably engage 8" round targets at 400 yards with a slight hold due to firing from a 10.5" barrel. I'm sure with a longer barrel, BDC marks would be spot on. The included mount is rock solid and doesn't give much to gripe about. Finish on the scope looks amazing, out of the box. After some use, it isn't the best, to be honest. After just two days of range use, it looks months old compared to some of my red dot/magnifier setups that have seen much more abusive use in similar conditions. Scratches and scuffs very easily compared to any other optic I own, though it is purely cosmetic and did not affect function after being banged around for the weekend. Wish I could include pictures to show how severe it is. A Cerakote job is going to be a must but it's kind of a bummer to have to do that on something coming from a reputable optic manufacturer. Cosmetics aside, scope seems to be built solid and straight to the point. With all things being considered, I am happy with my purchase and impressed with the performance of this very inexpensive scope. Never thought I'd mount a budget scope on one of my rifles and like it so much. Time will tell how durable it is, mechanically, as I run it through it's paces. If any problems arise, I'll be sure to post an update.
