Most Helpful Positive Review Sightmark RDS
There are plenty of RDS on the market most are more than the price of the gun and require very pricy modifications to even mount. I bought a Glock 19 and installed the Sightmark with additional mounting bracket and it works great. Easy to install works great and was very affordable. Would certainly ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Seemed ok. But......
The sight looked like it was everything I wanted. Then, when I got it I noticed on the box it said it was a 5 moa dot and not the 3 moa that Optic Planet has listed. But, I decided to give it a try anyway. So, I bore sighted sighted it in and found it seemed a little strange on turning the elevation...

Fine Red Dot For Those With Iron Sights Issues.

by Lancelot9201, from FL, United States Written on April 24, 2020
This red dot is a good value buy for those of us who no longer are very accurate with iron sights. My vision now requires a reflex sight to
obtain a clear view of my intended target. The windage / elevations adjustment screws are backwards but once you remember that it's easy
to sight in. Quality is above average and it has survived well sitting on top of my Canik TP9SA..
Pros:
  • good quality
Cons:
  • windage & elevation screws are backwards
Best Used for:
  • Replacement for iron sights
Would recommend: Yes

Great little red dot

by JohWhite, from PA, United States Written on February 17, 2020
The Sightmark Mini-shot is ideal for applications where weight is an issue. I installed one on my Taurus TX22 because I was concerned that adding the weight of a red dot would cause feeding issues. I chose correctly because the Mini-Shot works great and my TX22 runs like a clock with it installed. I highly recommend this red dot.
Pros:
  • Affordable
  • Very small and light weight
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Applications where optic weight is a problem.

Great short-range parallax free dot sight if you can tolerate strobe light

by Somebody, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on November 21, 2019
This is my favorite entry-level dot sight for air guns.

Unlike many "parallax free" dot sights, this one truly does have almost no off-axis parallax error at short range out to 100 yards. The optical quality is also decent.

My main gripes are that the 5MOA dot reticle is larger than I prefer, and the dot reticle visibly strobes to prolong battery life. Long battery life is good, but for my purposes I would prefer to simply replace the battery more often and not have to see a strobing reticle. Or else increase the strobe frequency so that it is less-noticeable.

I'm not sure why the removable armor shield is designed with "ears" instead of wrapping around the top. It seems like they could snag, but I haven't yet actually had issues with that for recreational target shooting.

I certainly would not rely on it for concealed carry or personal protection.

If high recoil is a concern, I would look at something higher-end like Nikon or Holosun.
Pros:
  • Virtually parallax free at short range and long range
Cons:
  • The removable shield can snag
  • Strobe dot
  • Dot too large
  • Wouldn't trust it for high recoil
Best Used for:
  • air guns

Good Reflex Sight

by SoCalDreamer, from CA, United States Written on September 26, 2018
I’m new to the red dot world! I have a Vortex Crossfire on my PC9 and wanted something for my Buckmark. First of all, the platforms are different. However, once I spent some time with this and did some additional research, I think this will work out quite well. The one thing this red dot do is make you hold your pistol in a horizontal position. If you don’t, you won’t see the red dot. This will help me with my other pistols. I found that viewing the red dot while holding the pistol close to my fav face helped me adjust the windage better. I’m going to the range next week to adjust the elevation and windage a little better. I have tired eyes but I think tho will help me make the gongs sing. The quality seems good and the warranty seems pretty good too! I didn’t see warranty info when I purchased it, but now I have peace of mind...just if I had purchased a Vortex.
Pros:
  • Good solid sight
Cons:
  • Difficult to adjust...however it is probably me
Best Used for:
  • plinking
  • Plinking and range
  • For me, plinking

Problems Installing Sightmark's Mini Shot Pro Spec

by Tygus, from Victoria, Australia Written on August 24, 2018
As soon as the unit arrived, I asked a competent Melbourne gunsmith to install the unit on the Glock 34 that I use for IPSC competition.

He showed me how, when mounted parallel to the slide of my Glock 34, the gun shoots 25 centimetres (just under 10 inches) high at a distance of 7 metres. With the vertical adjustment screw already at the limit of adjustment (the point at which it could turn no further), the vertical adjustment screw could not move the gun’s point of impact lower than that.

By way of contrast, he then mounted a Docter 'C' sight on the gun, and he showed me how the Glock 34 shot to the point of aim, and how the point of impact could be adjusted up, down, left and right.

Together, we have considered the possibility of modifying the mounting base to correct the Sightmark's discrepancy. Unfortunately, that job will cost more than the price I paid for your red-dot sight. (My gunsmith proposed fabricating a special mount that will raise the front of your red-dot sight by 4 to 5 millimeters. He says that it should work properly if this is done.
Pros:
  • Low cost
Cons:
  • Could not be zeroed
Best Used for:
  • Gunsmith training

Second one

by Flywheel, Verified Owner from KS, United States Written on July 6, 2018
Have one on my AR15 on top of my Bushnell 2.5-10x scope now one on my mossberg 930 for 3gun matches. I like the 5m dot, and the protective wings on it. The adjustment screws are still backwards, you'd think they would have this fixed by now, but if you know it a head of tym its not a big deal. I just take my engraver and etch arrows the right way. Got this one on sale for $89. Score.
Pros:
  • Dot size, price, protective wings.
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • 3 gun competion

really mini

by Will, from CA, United States Written on July 3, 2018
The sight is well made and the rails worked as advertised. Two problems I had were the sight adjustment markings were really small and it was difficult to tell the correct way to turn the adjusting screw. The second problem was the button to increase the sight brightness didn't function as described in the instructions. It took longer to zero than usual but once it set up it worked well. If you are use to using a larger sight the size of the glass takes some getting use to. O The weight was perfect for my rim fire pistol.
Pros:
  • light weight small size
Cons:
  • adjustment markings difficult to see
  • brightness button didn't function as describrd
Best Used for:
  • small pistol

Good Budget Friendly RMR

by Jeff, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on May 24, 2018
As usual, Sightmark makes some really good quality budget optics for the price. No need to purchase airsoft optics from China and hope it can hold zero or stay on. This is for firearms and not airsoft.
Pros:
  • good price
Cons:
  • None

3 gun atop scope

by Flywheel, from KS, United States Written on May 17, 2018
Mounted it atop my Bushnell 2.5-10 scope. Works well. I like that it has the side shield protectors. The bummer is still the adjustments are backwards. The vertical marker ring pooped off while sighting it in. Not a big issue, took my etcher and made a new arrow in the right direction. Going to get one for my Mossberg 930 now.
Pros:
  • Side protectors
Cons:
  • Adj. Screws backwards
Would recommend: Yes
