Most Helpful Positive Review Amazing scope for the price
I had a VIP discount coupon (Thank You Optics Planet) and used it to get a smoking deal on this scope. With a good IR illuminator, this thing is awesome. I have used 4th gen night vision costing thousands and this beats them hands down. For the price, you can't go wrong. Click the button.....Do...

Most Helpful Negative Review Not so good
Was really disappointed when I used it in both day time mode and night time mode. During the day, the screen was so dim that I could barely make out what I'm looking at and the night time mode the picture was really grainy no matter how I tried to adjust the picture. I did buy an after market IR lig...

Photon RT 4.5-9x42

by Guts, from AZ, United States Written on March 10, 2020
I am pleased with the Sightmark Photon RT. My hunting buddy bought the Sightmark Wraith so we had a great side-by-side comparison. The two scopes weigh about the same but the RT is much bigger and bulkier. Hunting with and sighting in the photon RT in the daytime is barely adequate. It is difficult to clearly see the target at 100 yards. At dusk on a cloudy day, when I could open the lens cap, it was much easier to use and sight-in, making shots to 300 yards was not difficult. The Wraith had none of these issues and had great color picture quality. However, I did not buy this scope to use during the day, at night and low light conditions the RT works outstanding! The wraith does have better picture quality but requires A LOT more infrared illumination. I can use the RT with little to no extra illumination from the built-in IR light. With the infrared light on about 75% power, I could easily identify hogs and coyotes out to 800 yards! The Wraith was limited to about 250 yrds. The built-in infrared illuminator is much easier to use and adjust on the RT. I purchased an external infrared illuminator, but it was not necessary for the RT except to save battery life. The RT's focus knob is a little easier to use, I can adjust it with a finger or thumb while holding the rifle, but it is very sensitive to over focus. The battery life on the RT is poor. It does come with a spare battery holder which is very useful and easy to use. With the IR illuminator on and ready to shoot, battery ...

Solid Scope

by HuntStrong2019, from TX, United States Written on August 13, 2019
The Photon is one of the best night vision scopes I have used. Its picture is crystal clear . This product is so easy to use. The menu and controls are easy to use one handed. The scopes weight is not bad, it is fairly light on the rifle. The infrared could have a little more output, but is solid out to about 175-200 yards. Overall this is a solid scope and I would 100% recommend it for anyone looking into getting into night hunting on a budget.
Pros:
  • Ease of use
  • Weight
Cons:
  • None

Great scope for the money

by RyanC, from LA, United States Written on July 21, 2019
This is my first experience with night vision and Sight Mark made it a good one. When I first decided I needed night vision to beat some hogs off my deer feeder I was discouraged by the thousand dollar products. I didn’t really think I was going to get an effective product for $500-$600. Boy was I wrong. Granted I’m only shooting at hogs at 100 yards but it is extremely effective. The scope has good clarity and is easy to use. The only thing I don’t like about it is the the battery life isn’t exactly what they say it is. I have to turn it on and off every time I bring it up but even then it’s not really a big deal. One set of batteries will last me a six hour hunt turning it on and off every 5-10 minutes. All in all, great product for the money Sight Mark!
Pros:
  • Price, good clarity 200-300 yds
Cons:
  • Battery Life
Best Used for:
  • Hogs

Best bang for buck

by RP from FL, from FL, United States Written on June 18, 2019
For the money this scope is hard to beat. Have used it on several hog hunts and it's worked great. Just purchased my 2nd one over the weekend for setup number 2. For a budget night hunting setup this is the way to go. Suggestion - if you're having to buy rings make sure you go with high or extra high. Also, not all 1 piece mounts will work due to the width of the tube between the eye piece and the forward controls. Make sure your 1 piece mount will fit between them.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Ease of use
  • Clarity
  • features
  • wifi
  • Records sound
Cons:
  • Forward focus is sensitive but works great
Best Used for:
  • Varmint
  • coyote
  • Hog

Night vision scope

by Goose, from WV, United States Written on April 7, 2019
First night vision scope. I do hunt with a buddy that’s a avid coyote hunter. He uses thermals and night vision scopes . He gave it two thumbs up. U can see eyes up to 400 yds. Identify animals out to 250. I did purchase an additional ir although the one that comes with it is pretty good

First Impressions

by Ronnie Sampson, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on October 20, 2018
This is a review without range test yet. Really like the scopes setup/screen display and its function. Night mode is equal to ATN x-sight 2 with ATN supernova ir light. The onboard ir is adequate but already had ATN ir light. I'm using a external battery pack so battery life not an issue here just us batteries to keep time and date working on scope. If you purchase scope you have to get steam view app it has a lot of neat functions like a motion detector and you can pretty much operate the scope from it. At this point i would recommend scope but with update after range test tomorrow.
Pros:
  • Looks/functionality
Cons:
  • like most nv at this price range could have better focus
Best Used for:
  • night target/night hunting

  • Price, features, video
Cons:
  • Mounts not sold as a pair

Night Vision for under $1000

by Wired1979, Verified Owner from IA, United States Written on September 22, 2018
Great product for the money. A huge step in the right direction for night optics. I have spent several hours behind these scopes and I am impressed. I am planning on using this until i can justify buying a thermal, thats going to be a while as the prices for thermal are steep. I have successfully hunted hogs already with the unit. The on board illuminator is good out to roughly 200 yards, I added an auxiliary illuminator that takes it out to 375 yards. Focus is good at 4.5x, could be better at 9X but is still sufficient to effectively hunt game. For the money, this is a great value.
Pros:
  • value priced
Cons:
  • focus could be better when zoomed
Best Used for:
  • Hog Hunting

Great entry level scope

by Kenneth, from TX, United States Written on September 19, 2018
Really like the scope. Easy to site in. Lightweight. Use amazon rechargeable AA batteries and get about 2 hours of use. Can see very good with IR off right at dark. Field of view could be better when up close and day scope is not very good, but the night vision is very good. Can see clearly 200 yards with factory illuminator.
