Ditch the Bulk, Keep the Protection

Electronic Hearing protection is almost a necessity for shooting these days.

Whether you are taking a training course and need to hear commands or just realize the benefits of keeping an ear on what's going on around you, blocking out all noise is not acceptable.

For a cost effective option, I use Surefire EP3 or EP4 plugs. I lend them out without concern and keep a pair in all my bags/vehicles because they don't cost much.

But they aren't perfect and they don't replace good electronic hearing protection. They definitely don't offer hearing enhancement. But I never liked the bulk/interference of electronic ear muffs and i balked at the cost of electronic ear plugs (not to mention they never seem to be a well vetted product).

So when I got my hands on the Clarus Pro, I was pretty excited.

Comfortable ear plugs that stay out of the way, control box that runs an AAA and simple to control, all packed in a watertight case. My prayers had been answered.

Overbuilt wire, rugged design, interchangeable foam tips, and a 3.5mm jack to hook up to phones (cord included).

I have taken them to indoor and outdoor ranges. Zero complaints. They work well.

Clip the control unit to the belt line, run the wire under the shirt, plug em into your ears, and forget they are there.

Indoors I use low or medium sound amplification most, super high is really only meant for outdoors.

No interference when running a rifle or shotgun like earmuffs tend to have.
