Most Helpful Positive Review Must have if your barrel is not dimpled
Made a mistake watching youtube and attempting dimpling without the jig. My advise - don't. You have a significant chance of ruining a barrel. if you have a sacrificial barrel - go ahead and try it without a jig. Otherwise use the jig.
Most Helpful Negative Review Paper shredder
Total piece of junk. Will destroy a barrel don't waste your money buy the one kak makes it works like a quality smithing tool should. First of all i nicked my finger on a burr so looking inside i saw a lot of burrs i pushed a paper towel thru the center and it shred the paper like shredded lettuce. ...

where has this tool been all my life?

by bassetj1, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on May 3, 2026
When you spend several hundred dollars for a new barrel, the last thing you want to do is mess it up by dimpling in the wrong spot. This tool takes all the guess work out. Align the tool with the existing gas hole rotate the barrel 180° and drill the first hole. It's just that simple. Very easy and very accurate. I couldn't be more pleased. This is the first time I've used the .750 tool. I used it on my DPMS gin one AR 10 and it worked like a charm.
Pros:
  • Ease of use
  • Affordable
  • Consistent alignment
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • none
  • AR 10 and AR 15.750 gas block installation

This product as absolutely great, super easy to use and puts the dimple exactly where it needs to be without a lot of effort. I would buy another one of these, but im pretty sure this one will last my entire life!

Beautiful craftsmanship

by Brandon, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on October 29, 2025
This jig worked beautifully. When I first received it I thought the hole was going to be too small for the drill bit, but the tolerances are just perfect. It left me with the perfect dimple. I only used it to create a single simple opposite of the gas port; I'm not sure what you'd use the other angles for. But I'm happy as can be. I'll probably never need it again, though .
Pros:
  • Perfect
Cons:
  • cost

  • Perfection

Seems Good

by Jim, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on July 30, 2025
Seems like it'll work well but I have a longer gas block to cover the slots in the barrel from an A2 sight and this doesn't have the screw spacing to match (too short). Should've checked first.

Works well

by NastyNate, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on January 22, 2025
The jig fit very well and made it really easy to dimple the barrel. I do wish it came with its own drill bit, but that’s a bit nit picky.

Absolute MUST for an AR build - don't approach your bench without it!

by Dave, Verified Owner from KY, United States Written on November 6, 2024
Other reviewers said it well, this is a must-have for building and is really easy to setup and use but there are no instructions. It is pretty straightforward on how to use but I'm sure there are videos on the internet in case you need them. Please note that one size does not fit all. Different barrels have different journal sizes so if you are building for different AR platforms (i.e., AR10 vs AR15), be prepared to buy multiple jigs. I highly recommend this tool!!!
Pros:
  • Simple & easy installation
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • AR Rifles and Pistols

Great product

by Jeff Y, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on November 2, 2024
The SLR dimpling jig is a great tool. I used it to dimple my fancy BA barrel. The jug is super easy and intuitive to use, particularly with the set screw that positions the jig exactly over the gas port. The channel screw on the opposite side perfectly positions the drill bit for making the dimple. The process took maybe two minutes. I will not dimple another barrel without the SLR jig now.
Pros:
  • easy to use
  • Intuitive
  • High Quality Machining
Cons:
  • Needs more vise flats
Best Used for:
  • Barrel dimpling
