Must have if your barrel is not dimpled
Made a mistake watching youtube and attempting dimpling without the jig. My advise - don't. You have a significant chance of ruining a barrel. if you have a sacrificial barrel - go ahead and try it without a jig. Otherwise use the jig.

Total piece of junk. Will destroy a barrel don't waste your money buy the one kak makes it works like a quality smithing tool should. Seems Good
Seems like it'll work well but I have a longer gas block to cover the slots in the barrel from an A2 sight and this doesn't have the screw spacing to match (too short). Should've checked first.

The jig fit very well and made it really easy to dimple the barrel. I do wish it came with its own drill bit, but that’s a bit nit picky.

Absolute MUST for an AR build - don't approach your bench without it!
Other reviewers said it well, this is a must-have for building and is really easy to setup and use but there are no instructions. It is pretty straightforward on how to use but I'm sure there are videos on the internet in case you need them. Please note that one size does not fit all. Different barrels have different journal sizes so if you are building for different AR platforms (i.e., AR10 vs AR15), be prepared to buy multiple jigs. I highly recommend this tool!!!

Great product
The SLR dimpling jig is a great tool. I used it to dimple my fancy BA barrel. The jug is super easy and intuitive to use, particularly with the set screw that positions the jig exactly over the gas port. The channel screw on the opposite side perfectly positions the drill bit for making the dimple. The process took maybe two minutes. I will not dimple another barrel without the SLR jig now.

SLR Dimple Jig
Worked great! I highly recommend to all who are wanting to professionally dimple and more reliably install a gas block that is not pinned to the barrel. Remember to use rocksett preferably or red locktite on the gas block set screws when installing. Also, i used a Milwaukee cobalt “hard steel drill bit” that cut my stainless steel barrel with easy and left perfect dimples.

SLR Dimpling Jig for AR gas block
Purchased this tool for dimpling an AR barrel. Tool is easy to use and works great. Makes the job of dimpling a barrel for a gas block with set screws really straight forward. If you do a good bit of this sort of work, I highly recommend this tool.

Great Jigs
I purchased a jig in each size available. They are great. They are spot on. The allen screw has a nice point that fits right into the gas hole in the barrel. The other allen screw on the other side is a perfect guide for the drill bit to dimple the barrel. It can be hard to see the dimple while you are drilling because of how thick the jigs are. Just take care not to drill too deep when you are only trying to dimple.

Awesome product
This is my second one of these in different sizes. Works excellent. Pro tip only Dimple opposite of the gas port. That way if you ever have to change gas blocks, you don’t have a second dimple for something that may not match.
