Most Helpful Positive Review Worth every penny
I was hesitant to spend so much at first, but am now thrilled that I spent the extra money. Great product, easy to adjust, and if your rail is not ridiculously long, you can adjust it with the rail on.
Most Helpful Negative Review weighs significantly more than adversitied
weighs 26-27 grams or .88-92 oz very confused how they messed up weighing something i would not have paid as much as i did if i knew i was only saving .3 oz vs .5-.6 looking to get my money back i feel scammed

Great option for those wanting a lighter recoiling lightweight AR

by Dave, Verified Owner from OK, United States Written on June 1, 2025
I have been pursuing the "perfect" lightweight AR build. Lightweight builds often come with a drawback of heavier recoil, but adjusting the gas can reduce this tendency. All of the lightest weight (pencil) barrels use the 0.625" gas block journal. Sentry is one of the few companies that make a well-designed, clamp-on, adjustable gas block with the 0.625 internal diameter. It works great. I was so pleased with the first one, I bought a second for another build. It is a beautiful piece of machining and works well for its purpose.

The only reason I gave it a four out of five is that there isn't fine enough gas adjustment. It seems like the "sweet spot" for a well tuned rifle is right in between two of the detents. So, I have either a little too much or too little gas.

The only other nit-picking thing is the adjustment method. You need a REALLY long 5/16 hex-key to adjust it with any normal length of handguard. (I recommend the 9" Eklind Tool 61905 5/64 Inch T-Handle Hex/Allenn wrench.)

Buy with confidence!
Pros:
  • Quality
  • Design
  • Precision Machined
  • Clamp On
Cons:
  • Limited adjustment
  • Adjustment method
Best Used for:
  • Lightweight and/or suppressed builds

weights more than 0.7

by avery, Verified Owner from MS, United States Written on March 12, 2021
it seems well built, i was intially pretty pissed it was .9ish instead of .7 but it seems good enough so far, will update with resulted after i get the rifle put together

may just not be worth it at 0.9 when i was .7 it was far lighter than anything else so the extra 70$ was no big deal knowing it actually weight ~0.9 i may have not paid so much more.

Light and built sturdy

by Jon, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on January 29, 2021
if you want a lighter adjustable gas block you cant beat this guy. It weighs nothing and works perfectly. Even if you don't care about build weight the sheer function of the device is perfect. 15 clicks that are tactile and easy to get to make this a good choice for anyone who is willing to spend money on quality.
Pros:
  • Everything
Cons:
  • Not cheap

Ultralight weight, but built with quality in mind

by Mark, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on January 9, 2021
I have tried a few different gas block brands, Seekins / Strike Inds / SA.
They all have their place but they are all not as nice as this SLR block.
Clicks are crisp and easy to track. fit to barrel was good. Gas tube fitting was also good.
I found that my stainless aero gas tube fit a little loose before the roll pin gets installed
I was concerned with gas leaks so ended up installing a melonite BAD gas tube which fit much better.
Weight, Holy cow, weight is a 1/3 of what my strike ind's steel gas block.
Could not recommend this gas block enough if you have a little extra cash.

Recommended Adjustable Clamp On Gas Block. It is worth the money and if fits perfectly on my .223 Wylde barrel from Faxon. Definitely I will buy it again in the future. Easy to adjust with the L-Shaped Hex Wrench provided.

Adjustable Gas block

by Joe, from TX, United States Written on January 18, 2019
This SLR gas block adjustability is second to none especially when using a suppressed 5.56 ar15 is the base. This thing rocks and can adjust to any level for no blow back to shooter, I love it and would recommend to anyone.
