Most Helpful Positive Review Steiner 2.5-10x42 mounting woes
Steiner scopes are supported by Burris US Customer Service which is good. The scope quality is very good and the price was very good for this quality of scope. However, the very large magnification ring caused mounting headaches requiring either:a) using overly high rings on Browning A-Bolt(defeats purpose of a 42MM objective lens)or using on rifle with sufficient clearance on rear of receiver. I ended up using on a TC Icon. Also, Steiner does not honor rebates on demo units. Pros: S-1 reticle, very good glass, great build quality Cons: Large magnification ring causes mounting issues

Mr. O'Neal

by Trey, from GA, United States Written on February 21, 2016
Superb clarity and excellent eye relief no black eyes needed. Haven't zeroed it out yet but looking forward to it. Mounted and found the weight distribution balanced on my 270. The low magnification will be great for those close brush shots. Looking forward to next deer season. Only con is the scope is rather large and needs to be mounted a little higher for bolt action rifles. The s-1 reticule may be beneficial but not so much for me all of my deer shots have been less than 150 yards.
Pros:
  • Glass clarity
  • eye relief at low mag
Cons:
  • None

Excellent, rugged scope

by Sako, from TN, United States Written on February 17, 2016
This scope is as all Steiner scopes are--awesome. Clarity is second to none. Blows away anything that the other European manufacturers have at this or any price. I can see why the US military uses them on some of their sniper rifles. Built like a tank. Solid and durable. S1 reticle is different, but full of features for long range shooting. This is my first venture away from Leupold, as I have used them for over 25 years. While still a Leupold fan, I feel that the Predator is superior in design and glass quality. Anyone who buys one will be impressed. I have this on my synthetic stock Sako 270 and love it. Extreme accuracy and repeatability, click to click. I like the way you can set the dial back to zero on the markings after the scope is dialed in. Buying one for my AR as well.

A Great Rifle Scope

by John, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on January 11, 2016
I bought this scope due to the super price. I've never had a Steiner scope. This scope is clear and bright. I've taken it outside after sunset and am amazed at how clear it is. I own many scopes from many name brands. This 30 mm tube model is as good as any. This one is so good that next time it's on sale and I have a coupon, I will get another. 2.5 to 10 is a very practical range for hunting just about everything.
Pros:
  • excellent clarity even in low light conditions
  • priced well
  • Solidly built
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Target shooting
  • Three Gun AR-10

Steiner Predator Xtreme

by Sudsy, from OR, United States Written on January 10, 2016
Pretty nice scope all around. Liked the color contrast provided by the coatings on the lenses. Controls all work smoothly. Pretty usable reticle with some wind marks.Turret adjustments were fairly accurate and predictable.
Only problem so far is the manufacturer or Importer (Burris), will not give subtensions for the reticle. Tried searching the web and calling direct, but no cooperation. Even the Strelok App developer can't get them last time I checked.
Best Used for:
  • Hunting/recreation
