Samel hayeed's Review of Steiner OTAL-C IR Class I Classic Tactical Laser
This laser is a great budget choice for someone who wants to get into night vision shooting but doesn’t want to spend the $800-$1500 for the “better” IR Lasers. No, it does not have an IR illuminator, only the laser, but the bloom coming off of the laser within 100y makes it act like a small illuminator as well as a pointer. Using this for CQB is interesting as well. The laser blooms off of white walls and lights up the room pretty decently. Again, not as good as something like a DBAL I2 with the laser/illuminator combo, but, it works great for its capabilities and way better than I expected. The laser is stuck at .7mw which I find to be a great setting. Its perfect for distance shots, and as I said before, acts like a small illuminator close range. The only “bad” thing with this unit is you have to turn it on by either a switch, or by using the pressure pad that plugs into the back. It would be nice to see this unit have a push button included on the unit its self, but its not too big a deal. I highly recommend this unit to anyone who wants a battle proven IR laser and doesnt want to break the bank.
Pros:
- Bright crisp pointer
Cons:
- No button, only pressure pad or switch
Best Used for:
- Hunting, prepping, playing seal team 6 in your moms basement.
