Recommended if...... - Steiner T5Xi 3-15x50mm Rifle Scope 34mm Tube First Focal Plane

I own the entire line of T5xi optics minus the new MOA offerings. 4 total. For whatever reason, my 5-25x56 has better glass than my 3-15x56. I only bring this up because there could be some variances in glass clarity from scope to scope. I've noticed that when i read reviews, most people rave about Steiner's clarity but you'll get a few that say the T5xi line isn't that great of glass. I only think i've seen two people say that about this line in all the reviews i've read on many different sites.
All that being said, the glass on these is pretty dang good.... meaning somewhere between good and awesome and definitely closer to awesome than not.
As for the turrets, all of my Steiners have somewhat mushy turrets. I really don't like that at all. If you needed to dial by feel without looking.... you're likely going to be in for a real challenge.
The warranty is a life time warranty so that's somewhat comforting. I'm also not sure how robust these are but a rep from Steiner told me that my T5xi 1-5X would have no problem on my SCAR17S. I have one on my 16S and one on the 17S. So far, so good and the clarity of those 1-5x's is fantastic.... but maybe the extra money isn't worth it over the P4xi ? I couldn't tell you that. I shot the P4xi that my father bought for his BCM Recce out in the Utah desert several years ago and thought the glass on that thing was great. There's a reason the price has gone up on those over the last several years.
Back to the 3-15x56.... Honestly... you might be better served getting a Viper PST Gen II. I purchased two of those because i was so impressed with the glass and reticle.
The SCR reticle leaves things to be desired, namely a floating center dot, instead of the cross hair, which obscures smaller targets. I also would prefer tic marks every .2mils down the vertical.

So in summary, if you like the reticle.... you think the glass is worth the money ( i do not ) and you think this is a more robust offering than the Viper PST Gen II.... go for it.
I believe however that a fine floating center dot is a much better option for a reticle. I also prefer the Vortex EBR 7C reticle for its not too cluttered christmas tree like reticle for wind holdovers.
I also like the positive, definite clicks you get with the PST gen. II and the glass is plenty good to shoot out beyond 1k yards.
I'm just letting you guys know that you don't need to spend this kind of money to shoot well. I have a variety of optics from Steiner to Burris to Bushnell Elite Tactical to Vortex and i'm just trying to help you realize you have options. Don't think you have to have a high dollar optic just because. Think about the feature set and what you're actually getting versus what you really need.
