Best equipment Ive tried
I ordered a bunch of similar items to see what I liked.
This by far, is the highest quality, best piece I have tried.
I highly recommend it. SL is a high quality manufacturer.
Its a low profile and i love that i can use my finger to turn light on, while holding a long rifle, instead of a switch ...

Stopped working after 1 mag
Light worked just fine out of the box on all 3 modes. Mounted nice and solid. First trip to the range put a 30 round mag through. The lazer still works on the laser only mode the light is totally inoperable. On the dual mode the laser comes on for a couple seconds then dies.
Works great for my build
I put this light on my CMMG Dissent 6.5in. It’s a little big for what I was wanting since the hand guard is only 5.5ins, but the RM1 didn’t come with a laser. My glass is the 1.5 acog, so the laser works very well when using the light. Almost like a secondary red dot. Definitely recommend this light if you’re running any sight with tritium. If you’re going to mount this on the top of the rail, you’re probably going to need a riser. I had to get a 1.93’ riser to have a clear line of sight. Anyway, great light/laser combo. I’m very happy with it.
Pros:
- bright light
- great construction
- Easy to find laser
Cons:
- Blocky/ chunky
Best Used for:
- SBRs or pistols with atleast a 10in handguard

Be prepared to play returnicake.
If you get a good unit, these are pretty nice lights for the money, but so far anything from Streamlight that includes laser alignment has a very high chance of being defective right out of the box.
You can play returnicake with optics planet, and hope that within your returnable limit (I think it allows one exchange), you get a fully functional unit, or you can send the unit into warranty repair at Streamlight, which is the cost of shipping each trip, and they mostly tend to get them fixed the first time, but not always.
I don't know a better alternative for the money, overall, so I bake this possible hassle factor into the pricing. You save a little on factory assembly QC, you may or may not pay it back and a bit more in shipping cost and your time.

Pros:
- None
Cons:
- About half of them require a return or warranty service

Great light for 12:00 mount
These are my favorite lights for ARs with red dots. The press for constant-on and hold for momentary-on is great. I mount them at 12:00. For night shooting, I rest my thumb over the light and use the button on the light to activate it (I don’t use a remote switch). It’s especially convenient because it’s easy/comfortable/thoughtless to activate the light regardless of which hand is my support hand (great for shoulder transitions).
I wrap electrical tape around the rear a couple times to ensure the rubber insert for the remote switch port doesn’t fall out. Then I put 1-2 ranger bands around the electrical tape to add some padding between the light and my thumb knuckle (I c-clamp directly behind the light when it’s daytime and treat it like a hand-stop; I like the underside of the rail to be smooth).
On a 9” rail, the light is visible in the bottom ~15% of the optic on 1.93” height optics, but it’s not noticeable when using the weapon. The light takes up more of the sight picture with longer rails, but I still don’t notice it with a 13” rail. If you’re using a magnified optic, I recommend an offset light.

Nice light
The light is nice and slim. It will work well on my 10.5" pistol. It is long but I have it quite a bit forward running a linear compensator so no problem. Laser will be good in dim and darker environments. Light output is great.

Streamlight TLR RM 2 Laser Rail Mounted Tactical Lighting System
little high priced ... should have a strobe setting .. other then that very bright .. very well made .. wish Streamlight would find a way to change how the tags are oriented, maybe panels that could be spun around or just place the name tage in a different location, better yet have two versions for people who want specific mounting locations.. My preferred location for the light is on the top picatinny rail which displays the logos upside down, not a deal breaker but just saying .. didn't need the remote switch, the switches are right where I need them ,, now if I had mounted the light on the lower rail under the barrel I would have needed the remote switch to operate the light seamlessly but switching modes would be awkward for me since I have a right hand oriented rifle and the hand I use to control the light is my left.
For me the ideal use for a plug in device would be an external battery pack .. not a switch.

Pros:
- well made mount holds device seurely
Cons:
- adjustment screws could be a little larger for zeroing the laser .. the tiny allen key you have to use is just obnoxious.
Best Used for:
- Identifying and acquiring objectives in low lit areas with tactical rifles and shot guns

Love laser light amd small package.
I bought like 6 lights / laser combos to figure out what I liked. Love this one. Just wish it had a green laser option. No need for pressure switch in my opinion. Mounts easily. Love light and small thin package that allows to mount under a dot package
Pros:
- Great light and laser
Cons:
- No green option
Best Used for:
- Strobe light laser combo

Rifle top rail
Mounted this to a rifle top rail, in front of a red dot (Holosun 515cm). Doesn't block much of the window, can still use irons over the top as well. Laser is too dim for mid-day use past 5 yards, ok in dim light. The battery lockout can cause drainage.

Love it for my Beretta 1301
Tbis light is smaller than I expected but it is a beaut. Puts out an amazing amount of light for its size and -BONUS!- it only adds a negligible weight to the firearm and its small footprint doesn't make it appreciably more difficult to get the gun out of its cabinet. I like the on-off switch-didn't bother with a remote switch- and the light/laser control. One tip about sighting in the laser, especially for side mounted lights: turn the laser on and point it at a wall 20 feet away (or more) and make your adjustments that way....up or down a little, right or left a little, etc. It will go a LOT better as the adjustment screws don't work like an Etch-a-Sketch. And for mounting on a Beretta like mine I recommend the GG&G Tactical Shotgun Flashlight mount. Works like a dream.
Pros:
- Price, layout, features. I preferred it to the Surefire.
Cons:
- No complaints from me. I've had a Streamlight on a home defense pistol for years and it works great

It works for my purpose
This is a handy rail mounted light. No where near as expensive as a Surefire amd not as cheaply made as some others. My Streamlights have served me well in my job and I'm sure this will be no different. The only thing I can't comment on is the laser. It works, but I have not zeroed it.
Pros:
- Very bright
Cons:
- Mount a little finicky, but secure.
Best Used for:
- Rifles with a picitiny rail
Would recommend: Yes
