Most Helpful Positive Review Nice Light
Overall this is a good little light. I like that the on/off button is larger than similar lights I looked at, making it easy to manipulate with gloves on. I mounted it to a ballistic helmet, and it's on there good and sturdy. I also like that it can be clipped somewhere on your body as well if need ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Does not fit Team Wendy Helmet
The red/blue/white light is okay for short distances as is the IR when viewed through the PVS-14, however, the clip-on mount DOES NOT clip onto, or fit the rail on my Team Wendy helmet...at this point it is velcro'd in place but that is a sloppy option. Would I buy this again? No, there are better o...

Great light

by Sennator, from AK, United States Written on April 18, 2022
I had a hand held version of rhisbyears ago that I loved, I just figured a headlamp version would be convenient. It does stick out a bit far for a head lamp but not enough to cause any issues or discomfort. The light functions very well and is my go to light for the field
Pros:
  • well made
  • Good Function
Cons:
  • Bulky
Would recommend: Yes

Works great!

by Greg W., from LA, United States Written on March 6, 2019
I was concerned that because of the wavelength of the IR light that it would produce a visible glow. I’m pleased to say it produces only a very faint glow at 2 yards, and should be invisible at greater than 15 yards. Good choice for NV to light up the immediate area for walking, using helmet mounted equipment.
Best Used for:
  • NV operations

Streamlight Side Winder Compact 2 review

by Howard, from WA, United States Written on October 12, 2018
This is the coolest little maneuverable light. Easy to operate with multiple brightness settings. The switch on it works real good changing the light between IR, red, and white. It takes CR123 or AA batteries!! I was worried about it being too bulky and it is not. Optics planet shipped right away and had an excellent price!
Pros:
  • Price
  • Quality
  • Compact Size
  • Takes AA batteries
Cons:
  • None

Sidewinder

by Greg, Verified Owner from NH, United States Written on April 11, 2018
It has great features with the different style lights and is easy to use. It seems strong and will hold up to the abuse I'll put it through. It is a bit bulky when wearing it on the rail of my helmet. I feel that if they created one that had a rail mount attached to the body instead of an adapter it would slim it down. Over all it seems to be a great product for the price.

I've bought 2 because they're so good. I love the ability to use different batteries (AA & AAA). I've used red lamp feature as well. It's a full featured light - use as headlamp or attach to helmet.

Highly recommended.
Pros:
  • Ability to use different batteries
  • Flexibility of light
Cons:

Convenient Compact

by mla, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on December 22, 2015
This is the second Sidewinder2 I own now. They are great small lights that work great with Molle gear and easy to use. Personally I have the flashing feature with IR light as a beacon for NVG work. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. I get the most use out of it when I am hunting. Getting to and from the tree stand or the duck blind this product is brighter and more reliable than any other I have found. I have dropped it in water, mud, and oil and have had zero problems.
Pros:
  • Size
  • Lumens
Cons:
  • difficult to operate with gloves
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • swat
  • Handy house work

streamlight sidewinder compact 2

by Kenny, from KS, United States Written on December 19, 2014
Excellent little light! I like everything about it. I already have two sidewinder compacts and a AA sidewinder; all sportsman models. Bought this one primarily to get the low output for the first mode. Glad I did! I have over 20 other lights including, 2 O light S10 one S20 one M20 Nitecore SRT3, SRT5, SRT7, Sunwayman D20A, and a number of others. Guess I like lights maybe? Also have an O light S15 on the way.

Streamlight Sidewinder Compact II Military flashlight

by WB, from NM, United States Written on November 3, 2014
I purchased this flashlight to compare it with other models that provide a 'hands free' option in low light situations when I am providing emergency medical treatment to injured people. I like the versatility of the mounting options which allow for illumination to be directed in a variety of directions. This device is very well made and should handle the abuse encountered in the field well. The kit I purchased included the picatinny rail mount option which I wanted to provide maximum flexibility depending on the situation. As far as the light source the model I purchased has white, red, blue, and IR light options with four variable brightness settings from low to high which should be adequate for my needs. I will test the effectiveness of the IR mode when I can borrow a PVS-14 or similar NODS unit. The light selection control positively locks in position to prevent accidental illumination or loss of night vision by accidental white light operation.
Pros:
  • light weight
  • reasonable price
  • Well constructed
  • versatile light options
Cons:
  • None
Would recommend: Yes
