Most Helpful Positive Review Infrared Super Tac 850NM
This is the second Super Tac 850 NM infrared LED light I have purchased. When coupled with a Yukon Gen 1 NV scope it is AMAZING how much IR light this thing puts out. On my "night hunter" AR-15 I can easily shoot for groups at 100 yards, even on the darkest of nights. A great item to have to boost any Gen 1 NV setup. The only reason I dinged it 1 star on "useability" is because it would be double awesome if you could switch out the head assembly with an ambient light C4 LED head for use as a regular flashlight... Replacement heads are not available, however. Pros: Light, Bright!, tough... ...

Streamlight Illuminator

by Matt, from OK, United States Written on March 7, 2020
Great product; well made and extremely effective. It’s cool to look through my night vision scope and turn this thing on to watch the night light up like day. My only complaint is that the body of the unit is an odd size, necessitating a $50 part to mount it to a rail. I wish they’d made it 1” in diameter so I could use standard scope rings.
Pros:
  • well made
Cons:
  • size
Best Used for:
  • Hunting hogs at night

Perfect fit for my ATN x sight 2. Great IR light. Durable and reliable. I have many streamlight flashlights and you can’t beat em. Much brighter than atn ir light that comes with it. Drinks batteries but other than that not a single complaint

Best Hand Held Flash Light on the Planet

by Pitt, Verified Owner from AL, United States Written on September 29, 2018
I have used the Tac-C4 by Streamlight now for years since they first came out. I own 2. I also own 2 of the Streamlight Green C4 Hunting lights that QD-Quick Detach onto rail mounts. Through the years of use and abuse they are scratched, dinged, dropped, stepped on, banged, drenched and lost then found. But ALWAYS...THEY KEEP WORKING. The LED beam is incredible. I have used them in conjunction with the square shaped Streamlight weapon mount that attaches to any picatinny rail. Used on both AR, Bolt guns and Shotguns. The Streamlight weapon mount for this flashlight is idiot proof as you slide in the C4 light and the mount has a finger turning knob to tighten it in. Mount and light then it becomes QD-Quick Detach and can be moved from weapon to weapon or pocket. Aim thru scope or red dot or sight flick on this light and it lights up down range like a mortar pop flare! Projected beam length is Huge and am guessing but several hundred yards. Handheld for use around farm or house in blackouts is stellar. You can keep of detach spring loaded side keeper. Don't lend it out as they will sprout legs and not come back! Use Streamlight dedicated batteries and keep plenty as it does suck the power.
Pros:
  • Rules the night!
Cons:
  • None

IR Illuminatior

by Bob, from MA, United States Written on September 6, 2016
Works great with my ATN X-Sight II HD. It has greater output than OEM illuminator and allows longer shots. Range is around 200 yards or so. I'm looking forward to reducing the pig population in TX later this week.

Greatly extended the range of my night vision binoculars

by Txmooseman, from TX, United States Written on January 3, 2015
My night vision binoculars didn't come with a built-in IR light. They're an older model Russian-made pair I've had for 10 years or so. They work well on moonlit nights, but have very limited range in total darkness. It's amazing how much further I can see with this light. There is a fence about 200 yards from my house, and I can clearly see it at night with this light. It does have a fairly narrow beam, and if it's foggy or misty the range is greatly diminished, but I suspect that would be the case with any IR light. There is no way of determining if it is off or on without looking through a night vision device, so I make sure I've turned it off before turning off my binoculars. Overall I couldn't be more pleased with the light and OpticsPlanet's service.
Pros:
  • light weight
  • Great range extender
Cons:
  • None

Light Review

by SJ, from ID, United States Written on October 22, 2014
I took a carbine course and the instructor recommended this light due to its durability and cost. I think it is a tremendous value compared to other manufacturers. The light works great, throws a good beam but not so much that ones night vision is too disrupted. So far it has held up after firing 300 rounds with my rifle. I would recommend this product.
Pros:
  • Price, performance
Cons:
  • Bulky
Best Used for:
  • Defensive carbine

Boost that gen 1 night vision to a whole new level !

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on October 30, 2013
I've had a Gen 1 night vision scope with an IR beam, but wanted to see if this Super Tac IR would pump things up a bit. I was totally amazed and pleasantly surprised! The adjustable beam can create a flood like IR beam for larger areas closer up or adjust to a spot for further out viewing. This light is just what I wanted. I can't say enough about it. If you're looking for an inexpensive way to see better with a GEN 1 or 2 NV scope, this is it. Buy it. AND it uses the same batteries as my regular Super TAC c4 flashlight.
Pros: Compact, uses same batteries as my Super TAC C4, adjustable beam
Cons: NONE

Nice setup for the price

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on April 2, 2013
Light sang grip are very easy to setup. In action, the light works very well, is bright, and batteries are easy to change on the spot. Works just as good as the $300 lights (maybe not as bright).
