This is an excellent emergency light. It not only puts out a lot of light, but it lasts a long time too. Combine this with a sleeve of D cells from one of the discount warehouses and for about $50 you have enough light to sustain you through most any power outage. It not only puts out enough light to actually do something by, but it does not get hot like other lights might. I would definitely recommend this light for purchase.

Utilitarian

It is compact and effective in illuminating smaller areas. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. The "D" batteries which it uses are readily available and reasonable in cost. The red emergency mode is a nice feature, albeit I hope I never have to use it.

Amazing Light

by Red, from TN, United States Written on August 6, 2023
Own two of these(soon to buy more) and use them for everything from emergency lights to fishing, to hunting/camping. The batteries last seemingly forever! The clip style handle makes hanging a breeze. Added bonus is they don't get scalding hot so they're safe to use inside tents etc where possible contact with either the tent or yourself is highly likely. Rugged and durable as well.

I like it.

I wanted something that had maximum run time and ran off standard batteries so I didn't need access to a 120 outlet to recharge it. This fit the bill perfectly. The down side is even at max output of 540 lumens it's not overly bright, not compared to a propane lantern, but I knew that ahead of the purchase. I used it during a power full day power outage this past winter and it was adequate to light up the basement and navigate around to shut off breakers. The big seller to me is on a 12 pack of D batteries you can run 210 hours at 275 lumens, and 885 hours on 55 lumens! So if you want a good prepper light that would allow for days and weeks of supplied light source (albeit at low output) and will run off stored batteries this is a good solution.

Good Light

by Robert Nenciarini, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on June 14, 2018
Very bright. Has 3 brightness settings. Easy to use. Has multiple hanger options. Because it runs on "D" batteries it should last a long time before getting dim. The "D" batteries do make it a little heavier than it looks.
Pros:
  • easy to use
  • bright and compact
Cons:
  • D batteries
Best Used for:
  • camping
  • power outages

Streamlight Siege Lantern

by weiss217, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on December 21, 2017
This is the second one of these that I have purchased. The first one is about five years old. It has given excellent service. I bought it for my wife in case of power outages. I'm retired, but she still has to get up and get ready for work. Soooo, in the spirit of helping out and as a good husband, I bought the first one so that she could still have some light to shower and do her make-up before leaving for work, in those times that we lost power overnight. I'm just nice that way. Anyway, during deer camp this year, we lost power for an evening and I couldn't help but think how nice it would have been to have had that lantern to light the room while we passed the hours sipping our toddies and telling lies. Fortunately, we regained power about midnight and I fired up my 'lectric blankie and wrapped myself in the arms of Morpheous in order to match wits with Ol' Bucky the next morning. Another use for this lantern at deer camp, where we have limited light near the sink, it can be separated from the base and hung overhead for those using the sink. This is a great lantern: excellent light, several useful modes and adaptations, with great battery life. Good price for a great item.
Pros:
  • Light output, battery life, adaptability
Cons:
  • None

Solid light

by Hurmon Gibson, from LA, United States Written on September 23, 2015
Bought this to use as a tent light in an upcoming camping trip. I have used it around the house and seems to produce a good amount of illumination for a small lantern. Produced enough light to move around in a 25'X25' living room. It seems to be solidly built.
Pros:
  • Good light output
Cons:
  • none... yet
