98% of people never fire their weapons at night time, especially in civilian life. They have no idea what the flash signature looks like at night or in a dark room…. If you’re one of those people, I encourage you to go out some night where you can legally do it and see what your firearms look like when you fire them at night. Depending on the caliber and barrel length it can be quite shocking if you’ve never done this.
Over the last 25 years, I have tried probably a dozen different muzzle devices made to mitigate a flash signature and there’s just something about the three prong design, especially the Surefire. I believe the length of the prongs are longer than any other three prong design that I have found and this makes it lessen the flash greatly. Suppressors are getting easier and easier to obtain. It’s not like it was even 10 or 15 years ago, but if you don’t wanna do the paperwork and you’re just worried about the flash, I would spend the 90 dollars and buy the SF flash hider, and go out at night and try it with it and without, and you will be impressed. I’ve run it on 556 up to my 300 win mag and it works GREAT on the FLASH not designed to help with recoil so much.
