Surefire P61 Lamp
I got this lamp to replace the P60 lamp in my 6P on my M4. This adds some projection over the original lamp but the greatest gain is in the increase in lateral light output. This is important in a weapon light since scanning for threats is about as important as what you are engaging. I cannot comment on the life of the lamp, but my momentary use should allow for a long life. I would recommend this if you carry a light for personal protection and do not need a lot of battery life since the extra power does drain the batteries faster.

Brighter than the P60 head the Nitrolon G2 originally came with. I wish the Surefire LED replacement head for the Nitrolon G2 did not cost so much or I would have gone in that direction to help with battery life. I noted the original incandescent head gets dimmer over time. One would not notice this unless one has a second light to compare to. Yes, it is worth replacing with the upgraded P61 head, just be aware of shortened battery life if you use the twist on feature of the G2. Use the push button to extent serviceable life of both batteries and light head.

Replacement Lamp.
It has worked better than the old one. It is much brighter. I think the old one only had 60 Lumen and the new one has 120 Lumen. I am very happy with it. It was well worth the price. It put new life in the old flash light.

P61 Replacement Lamp
I installed these on two lighted MP5 forearms in place of the standard P60s, and doubled the areas of illumination. It doesn't appear any brighter than the P60, just a larger field of light, which is desirable when investigating a cluttered environment that could conceal multiple threats.
Pros: Produces twice as much light as the P60.
Cons: Reduces battery life compared to the P60 lamp. Should have been standard from Surefire instead of the less effective P60.
