I had the occasion to have the Dominator with me while I was at a VA event in No. Cal. Because I was part of the organizers I got out late. The only exit from my parking lot was blocked by a couple of cars, with young people in them, one group out of their car and talking with the other... just sitting there not caring that I was waiting. I tried to wait a little bit of time, maybe a minute or so. Then I flashed my headlights at them, and lightly honked. I got the typical salute from a bunch of them, which in this case must have represented their I.Q. I had the Dominator next to me, remembered to roll down the window and hold it outside (so it would not blind me) - and turned it on them. They couldn't get back in their cars quick enough and tear out of there. It is that strong of a light, and focussed enough to make it a nightmare from the short distance that I was shining it. Believe me, this light will make people turn away, and go away. I sort of wish I had the Hellfire so I could have offered them a 'tan' as well (4K lumens at that time).
Cons:
- Buy it as it's the best - if you can afford it

I know first off this flashlight is very pricey. With that being said, it’s like having 11 flashlights rolled into one giant light. Sure fire did a great job on how the design of this light is needed in different types of situations. It can go from low to very bright with the twist of the wring or with a button. The rugged feel of this light is just awesome, like it can with stand any situation, that’s what I love about sure fire. I know you can get a cheaper light like the stream light pro tac hL 5-x that puts out 3500 lumens , how ever, the stream light doesn’t throw as far as the Surefire dominator does. I have the stream light and have tested in a open field and with out a doubt the Surefire had a further throw then the stream light. I highly recommend this item and all surefire products.
Best Used for:
- Hiking , Night fishing, walking late at night,

I don't have the light, (yet) but I can critique the ad presentation. I would have spent a lot more time to describe, and list All the features and advantages. For the money it would carry an extra 25 gal.of gas, plus an extra spare tire. And fill the tank, change the tire by itself so I didn't have to get out of the car.

This is by far the finest flashlight I have ever owned or seen. Very high quality materials. The option of brightness is great, don't always need it on full bright. I can see well over 100yds clearly with this Flashlight.
Awesome Product, expensive but worth every $$.

Not a big review guy, but after poking through all the flashlight choices that Optics Planet has to offer, I decided on the Surefire UDR Dominator. I a large piece of property in Montana that backs up against the national forest and was looking for a flashlight that would cut through the dark if needed. This light is insane! Like the other reviewer, it's actually brighter than my cars HID lamps on full blast. I love how you can control the output coupled with the fact that it's rechargeable and unlike most other manufacturers, Surefire includes EVERYTHING in the package for you - batteries, rechargeable battery, charge adapter, carrying strap (although a little excessive), rubber guards for the top and bottom of the light and voltage adapters... The only drawback is its price obviously but if you are going to spend $1K on a flashlight, look no further. This one is well worth it.
Pros:
- rugged
- Brightness
- water resistant
- Extremely Well Built
- Comes Complete w/ Everything
