I only use this when I shoot at indoor ranges. It helps tremendously with directing all of the sound away from you and forward. Your shooting neighbors to the left and right will thank you! It makes for a pleasant indoor shooting experience. You can also buy a suppressor to do the same thing but I realize some states make not possible.
