Most Helpful Negative Review Poor Mounting System and other issues.
I purchased this for 2 potential purposes. First, to mount on an AR for night vision shooting and as a white light; however, after taking all the time to get the IR laser in the ballpark of zeroed, I found that you cannot change the batteries without taking it off and thus losing your zero. If you are looking for something to mount on a long gun, stick with the standard IR laser/ illuminators that you don't have to remove in order to change the batteries. Now I'm breaking in an DBAL-A4 for the rifle instead. Second, I thought all was not lost as I would relegate the device to my Glock pist...

Pretty good, but.......

by Kevin, from HI, United States Written on July 8, 2019
The visible light, IR light, and IR laser work well. The on switch is a little stiff compared to the 'ol Streamlight TLR-1. The selector switch for laser, both, and light is easy enough to manipulate.

Adjusting the light from visible to IR needs to be done cautiously since this protrudes beyond the barrel. Probably something to be selected before drawing the firearm. There's an "off" position. Given there's a laser selector, I wonder how necessary this is. The on/off switch is stiff enough that it shouldn't go off easily.

Many Surefire and Streamlight lasers far enough below the barrel. The laser and point of impact basically correlate to a fixed distance. Closer or further distance will put the round higher or lower. This will require practice at the range and learning how to adjust for very close, 10 yards, 20 yards, etc. Should work with every suppressor on the market.

This may or may not be compatible with all holsters. An RMR and a visible/IR light might also be another option, which might be easier for kydex holster selection.

Other than that, it works exactly how it's supposed to work. I'd definitely put it on a pistol like the M9 where an RMR isn't really an option.
Pros:
  • Night vision compatable
Cons:
  • distance sensitive
  • holster compatability may be an issue
Best Used for:
  • home defence
  • Tactial

Critical Piece of Night Vision Gear

by Ricky, from VA, United States Written on December 17, 2017
I have this light attached to a STI Tactical 5.0 double stack 2011. The light fits well and would be at home on any full size pistol. I tried the light on a Glock 19 but I felt it made the Glock too bulky. The throw of the light is tremendous in both visual and IR situations. Expensive but this is part of "life and liberty" gear. Works well, looks good and it's a surefire.

Surefire Quality

by Kvorka, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on July 2, 2017
Typical surefire quality. Very bright IR illumination with good range and balance of focus/flood. Bezel to change between White light and IR is a tad stiff. Haven't had a chance to do any extended testing but works great with a PVS14 and PvS 30. Has a tiny light to indicate when IR is activated which can be helpful.
