Been leaning toward prism optics lately & purchased this for a 9mm carbine. I have 2 prism optics from PA and this is Very , Very comparable to the PA prism line. I will summarize below. 1) Reticle is slightly larger than the competition. 99% of my shooting is target practice and the marker retic...

First off, OpticsPlanet did great, as usual. Never had a complaint with them. This prism, on the other hand, I have an issue. I ordered this for a X95, meaning this would have to transfer to a 1.93” mount. The very first time I transfer the optic to the new mount, the screw holes within this Chines...

Swampfox Raider Micro Prism

by Jmon, Verified Owner from AR, United States Written on October 19, 2025
Shipping sucked but that is nothing new here. Optic is great, the prism is as advertised for someone with astigmatism, glass is super clear, and holds zero very well so far.

Great Optic!

by John Utah, Verified Owner from UT, United States Written on September 3, 2025
I went with a prism because I have astigmatism and it's a game changer for me since the dot is now crisp. Another bonus with a prism is the etched reticle, so I have a reticle even if illumination is off or fails. Add the build quality, shake to wake, compact design, reasonable price, and this is my favorite optic.

I only found one con and it has nothing to do with the build of this optic - it's the fact that prisms have eye relief. I must have this optic closer to my eyes than a standard red dot. For me, there is no more mounting over the magwell. This can mean not having room for backup sights on some weapons. This is the case with my rifle and the popup sights I was using. There may be another type of rear sight I could use, but I am not too concerned with this particular weapon. However, this optic can co-witness with the Springfield Kuna popup sights when using the lowest included Swampfox mount.

I am so impressed with Swampfox that I will likely buy more of their optics for new builds, or to replace other optics.
Pros:
  • Price
  • compact
  • etched reticle
  • Easy access to battery
  • build quaity
  • Multiple mounts
  • Clear glass Crisp red dot
Cons:
  • eye relief
Best Used for:
  • self / home defence

No more FUZZY DOT

by oldmiliron, Verified Owner from IA, United States Written on August 30, 2025
Exactly what I needed if you suffer from star burst/fuzzy dot with your red dot sights this is the cure. Crisp and clear with and without illumination. If you suffer from astigmatism then prismatic sights is the answer.

Great Optic

by John Utah, Verified Owner from UT, United States Written on July 30, 2025
I own another Swampfox Raider, which I like a lot. This one also is a winner.

These are the things I like:

- I can co-witness the popup sights on my Springfield Kuna with the low profile mount. My neck would have preferred that I use the included medium mount, but I wanted to be able to use the sights if needed.

- I like that this model doesn't have the Bullet Rise Compensation (BRC) reticle since I wouldn't attempt long shots with a PCC. The simple single dot is perfect for the Kuna. I also have the Raider with the BRC on an AR-15 and I love it on that weapon.

- The glass is so clear. This was made even more obvious since I was also shooting with a Sig Romeo 5 on a different weapon when I used the Raider for the first time. I like my Romeo and have no issues with it. I just think the Raider has superior glass.

- Shake to wake. No need to remember to turn off the optic.

- Windage has nice clean clicks when making adjustments.

- It's a prism, so I can see it clearly with my astigmatism.

- It normally has a good price, but it's a no-brainer when on sale at Optics Planet.

So far, there is nothing I dislike about this optic. This is the one possible con I can think of for some people:

- It's a prism, so it has eye relief. I know this is not a fault of this optic, but some people may not like the eye relief requirement. I prefer having a optic more forward on my weapons for a better field of view, but a prism is much better for me because of my astigmatism. It's a trade ...

great dot for the price

by Comson, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on July 18, 2025
I use this on my short barrel CMMG Banshee. It works well. The dot is bright enough for the AZ outdoor use. The build quality is also decent.
Best Used for:
  • 9mm AR pistol

Great Optic

by TC, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on June 29, 2025
This is my second Swampfox Raider. I am very impressed with the build quality for such a value. The diopter works smoothly. Glass is clear, mount is solid. Easy to operate controls. The only thing to be aware of is the shake awake feature. With the supplied battery the shake awake would not work, the optic just stayed on. Replacing the brand new supplied battery with a better quality battery instantly fixes the problem. Had the same thing happen on my first Swampfax optic. This is a great optic and the prism feature just puts it over the competition. Highly recommend!

Finally a red dot for my astigmatism

by JohnyUath, Verified Owner from UT, United States Written on June 2, 2025
I built an AR-15 pistol and had no plans on using fixed sights, so I wanted a prism optic in order to have an etched reticle. This way it would still work if the batteries were dead. Having a clear red dot with my astigmatism was also a benefit.

The build quality of this optic seems good. Even though I do not plan on putting it through much punishment, it looks like it will stand up to some harsh use. The only gripe I have is with prism optics in general. It needs to be closer to the eye than a regular non-prism red dot, but that's just how prism optics work. I will gladly sacrifice placement on a firearm vs not having an etched reticle and an actually crisp red dot with my astigmatism. With my eyes, I needed the optic so far back on the rail that I couldn't use fixed sights if I wanted to.
Pros:
  • Will work with dead batteries
Cons:
  • It's a prism, so it needs to be closer than a standard red dot
Best Used for:
  • Anyone with astigmatism

Great 1x Optic

by LG, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on June 1, 2025
This is the fourth Swampfox Raider 1x Prismatic sight I've bought and I couldn't be more pleased with the product. I have astigmatism and the etched reticle it's perfectly crisp and clear. Shake awake is the only way to go with the memory of the last illumination setting popping up in a fraction of a second. I would recommend Swampfox to anyone with or without astigmatism for use on PCC's or AR's in any caliber.
Pros:
  • Crisp and clear glass
Cons:
  • none so far
Best Used for:
  • PCC'S and AR pistol builds
