Slonjo's Review of Swampfox Tomahawk 1-6x24mm Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, Second Focal Plane (SFP)

This is a follow-up to my previous review. I originally got one of each of the reticle types. I ended up liking the Gorilla Cross reticle better but it was out of alignment. The windage stadia were off-center. So, I returned the BDC for a Gorilla Cross version did a warranty exchange on the bad one. On both of the new Gorilla Cross reticle optics I received, the reticle was still off. The illuminated portion was several MOA off from the regular etched portion... on BOTH scopes. So... I tried one more time, exchanged one for credit (losing faith) and another for a new one and the 4th one I received still had the same issues. The windage stadia of the reticle were not aligned with the elevation. On the left, the windage stadia were inside the illuminated circle and on the right they were outside of it. It was that far off. I don't know if I just got a bad batch from a Monday production run, but it was unacceptable. I ended up returning them both.

I'm not sure many people would even notice the discrepancy, if you just used the center crosshair, you'd probably be fine, but I planned on using these at my 600+ yard range and I would have been off trying to use the windage stadia.

I sooooo much wanted to love these. You can tell from my previous review. it goes on-and-on with all the great features and quality these optics have and for the most part that all still holds true. If only I could've gotten one with a uniform and aligned reticle.

I still recommend these. Perhaps you might want to try the dot-BDC version or maybe their quality control has caught this issue and it's been fixed by now.
Pros:
  • clear glass
  • Illuminated reticle
  • True 1 power
Cons:
  • poor quality control
  • reticle out of alignment
Would Recommend: Yes
