Spacegunner's Review of TacFire Linear Compensators

I just recently learned about linear compensators and decided to try the TacFire models because of reviews & price. I bought two: black one for my recently purchased Savage 110 Trail Hunter in .223 and its threaded barrel; and the other (SS) for my new BCA .22 WMR upper receiver. I took them both out this weekend (March 01) and the difference with the .223 was very noticeable. Even though the .223 has relatively less muzzle blast, the difference was in the amount of blast & pressure wave coming back to me as the shooter. The .22 WMR sounded like a .22 LR, being behind the muzzle blast.

By the way, both rifles shot sub-HALF-MoA.

I will recommend the linear compensators to those who shoot Match Rifles in High Power Rifle matches, as we shoot 88 rounds per match, and are fatigued by the barrage of pressure waves that hit us during the matches. The linear compensators will also benefit the shooters to either side of the shooter using the compensator.
Pros:
  • Effectiveness, price
Cons:
  • none so far
Best Used for:
  • Muzzle blast & pressure wave attenuation for shooter(s)
