Good so far.
Ordered the extra low rings for a Winchester M70 30-06 (current model) and mounted a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14 x 40mm. Fits perfect for my eye relief with 1/8” gap or less between the barrel and the bell and no interference with bolt functionality. Everything went together without issue, light weight and well machined. Should be be a solid setup for years to come. Lost a star due to OPs confusing description, had to use Talley’s sight to verify the correct rings for my setup.

Talley rings are one of my go to's for basic hunting rifles as a gunsmith due to the fact that the base and ring are one piece. It's less parts that can move around, and that's less for a customer to mess up when they "adjust" things.

The rings were supposed to fit a winchester model 88. One of the bases was right but one was way too short. I'm working with optics planet to get it straightened out

It's a Talley!
What more can I say, it's a Talley. They work! Simple to install (Once you have the correct rings), accurate and machined perfectly so as to not require lapping. However, Optics Planet is a little vague in their description. For the 960701 (Extra Tall) OP describes it as a Winchester model 70 set of rings .336 and the 960702 (Extra Tall) as Montana 1999 rings .860. They both fit Winchester Model 70 rifles, the .336 and .860 refer to the rear mount receiver screw spacing. I had recently acquired a 1985 Model 70 and it still had an old scope on it when I ordered the new Talley rings to mount my Vortex Crossfire 4-12x50 on it. I originally ordered the 960701's and when they arrived I removed the old scope and "Horse feathers! The rear mount receiver screws don't fit!" My receiver has .860" rear mount spacing and the 701 rear mount spacing is .336". OP was excellent about me returning the wrong pair, they allowed me to swap for the correct 960702 with spacing .860 at no cost and they paid shipping both ways on the exchange. Now, it took Talley FOREVER to ship OP the correct pair, but everything is hunkey dorey now and I'm a very happy camper (er, I mean shooter) now. The Extra Tall are the perfect height to allow Vortex's Defender Flip Caps to work with the 50mm objective lens. I would've taken a star off for the vague description, but how can you rate a set of Talleys lower than 5!
