Most Helpful Negative Review TASCO TG104050DS Target Scope
At minimum magnification (10x) was good, but going to maximum magnification (40x) revealed it is increasingly unfocuseable at any range/distance up to 40x. It is severly blurry at best, and at 'least blurry' the range markings are very wrong. Sorry TASCO, but this scope is not useable. Pros: Looks ...

Great scope

by cchgn, from FL, United States Written on March 22, 2021
I've had this scope for about 15 years and it still works great. I'm not one to "keep up with the Jones" and have to have the latest greatest. I mean, what makes a good scope? IS it waterproof, fog proof, and shockproof? Yes! Parallax is 25 yds to infinity (meaning that past 25 yds, you don't have to even think about it). I made a grid target of 1" squares and put it out at 100 yards. This scope has 1/8" MOA (MOA is 1" at 100 yds, so 8 clicks move the reticle 1" at 100 yds). A good scope will track accurately, meaning each click moves the reticle immediately, without hesitation. This one does and then tracks back. Then I put the target at 50 yards, so that's 16 clicks to MOA and it does that and back. THAT is a good scope. Also, the objective lens ring has marks stamped on it designating 25 yds, 50 yds, 100yds 200 yds, and 300 yds (there are more marks, in between those, but those numbers I named are stamped on the ring) and then the infinity symbol. It focuses perfectly on each of those yardages. That's a good scope. I bore-sighted the scope at 25 yds.- that's my zero. The turrets have 3 small set screws and can be removed with a very small Allen wrench (They send one with it if you buy it new, but I bought it used so I didn't have that Allen wrench and couldn't find it either. I mean, I bought a full set of standards and metrics and they're not ANY of those, so you know what I did? I bought some different set screws, that I had an Allen wrench for, then drilled those out an...

Good for all around use

by RAIDER ONE, from OR, United States Written on March 16, 2021
I have this scope on my Ruger AR556. I don't know what the other folks are complaining about in low light and at 300 yards my scope is clear as a bell. I have no problem taking a ball cap off of a Tactical target at 300 yards. But I am a retired MARSOC RAIDER, so I am used to those types of acquisitions. I didn't buy the scope it was given to me by a friend. But I would recommend it if it was still in production.
Best Used for:
  • Target, critters, varmints

surprised shooter

by argeea, from TX, United States Written on February 20, 2018
I have one of this scopes. it came with rifle I bought. I tried to sell it but had no bites. I been using it to try out
new acquisitions (rifles) and found out it's very precise and clear, during day when I'm target shooting. If you don't want to spend lots of money, I recommend it. probably won't do very good during dusk or dawn but during day it works great
Pros:
  • Price
Cons:
  • Low light performance
Best Used for:
  • daylight target shooting

Problems with this particular scope !!

by Bob, from Loxton Sth Australia, Australia Written on September 19, 2017
Purchased this scope for small bore bench rest (.22LR) worked fine for the first 12 months but now windage adjustment is virtually non existent unless given a good tap but then it can finish up anywhere! Can't complain about the price but price isn't every thing when it doesn't do what it was bought for!!! Scope is about 2 years old now but hasn't been fitted to my target rifle for around 6 months.
Pros:
  • Price
Cons:
  • Not useable !
Best Used for:
  • Fishing sinker

Great item

by Morris Kennedy II, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on July 23, 2016
I have used Tasco scopes for years. Just bought a Remington 700 220 Swift this scope workers I shoot from 100-350 yards at ground hogs. Clear view on full power at 350 yards once you know the rifle and ammo no need for range markers.

Tasco World Class Plus 10-40x50

by Troy, from TX, United States Written on November 22, 2014
I have owned this scope since I first saw them for sale. I have them on every rifle I own. I have not found a better scope. Only negative is the weight. I had to do a lot of work to make it work on my silhouette (big bore) rifle. I would have bought the 12-60 x 50, but I could not make weight with it. But one it is worth the money and them some. I have six of them right now, and would not trade them for anything.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • wished it was 30 mm tube

tasco 10-40x50 target/varmit

by gus, from South Australia, Australia Written on August 31, 2014
Great value for $ spent.I shoot smallbore benchrest and the Tasco has clear vision at 20,50 and 90 metres.
As an entry point scope the Tasco 10-40x50 offers most of the features normally found on much more expensive scopes. Many of our shooters performing to high level scores at State level are using the Tasco 10-40x50 Target/Varmit 10-40x50.

Think long and hard.

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on August 13, 2012
For a cheap scope, it may be ok. Out of the box brand new, couldn't get the scope to zero without shimming- ran out of up elevation. Considered purchasing a base with 10 or 15 degree MOA, but called Tasco instead, and informed them of the issues of running out of elevation adjustment. They told me to return it to them- which is actually Bushnell. Initially, they wanted me to pay ALL shipping costs- to them and back. Took a little time, but they got the point that they were going to honor their "Limited Lifetime Warranty" for a faulty brand new scope WITHOUT any additional cost to me. The faulty scope got past QC which may be rather common, just like BSA. Tasco sent a replacement instead of a repaired scope which I actually received from UPS today (08-13-2012)and hope to try it again at the range Sunday.
The scope focus is not as sharp above 30X. Still, beyond expecting a scope that works out of the box and having to get Tasco to make good on the warranty, you generally get what you pay for, and can expect Burris, Mueller or Simmons quality for Tasco money.
Pros: Inexpensive, full of features, better than iron sights.
Cons: VERY POOR quality control.

Tasco 10-40x50 Riflescope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on July 19, 2012
I mounted this scope on a .204 rifle. I used the 40x setting for target shooting and 20x for varmint hunting. It has a clear view at both power settings. I'll buy another for the .308 rifle I plan on getting.
Pros: Very reasonable priced scope.
