Switched from ar to ak. Been building a fully built cugir and a amd-65. The cugur received the Midwest industries alpha hand guard and dust cover. The amd is going to be kept more classic looking but with a hellcat engine. So, after reading reviews I figured the dog leg rail would be perfect. Well I like tolerances and after reading the reviews I had high expectations. Well let’s just say that the dog leg dust cover was highly disappointing. The over all weight and material is very light, almost cheap aluminum feeling. You must sacrifice your iron sight to mount it. Well, they don’t provide you with a back up. In my opinion the dust cover should be sold with there back up sight. They roll pin that mounts it requires a tiny clip that kinda stays on alright. Don’t screw the screw for the mounting plate down to far or your bcg will not go into battery. And worst of all. There is a metal tab on the back right corner that must be bent to fit it to your rifle? Come on. A lot of people were calling this the original ALPHA hand guard. That could not be more far from the truth. NOW, IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A MIDDLE PRICED MIDDLE OF THE ROAD MIDDLE TO LOWER END DUST COVER THEN THIS IS IT. But then again jl just released there version for 40% cheaper and much better feel to the material used. ENGINEERING ON THIS WAS SUB PAR. BE VERY CAREFUL BEFORE BUYING THIS. Just what I needed for my WASR-10. I'll be buying one for my RH-10 as well.

I have this mounted on a AMD-65, it is a tight fit and runs flawlessly, it is still holding zero after hundreds of rounds this far. Feels and looks like quality. Would recommend if you have a AKM and not much mounting options. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star is because the instructions aren’t too clear, if you’re a beginner trying to install something for the first time you might run into some confusion . I didn’t have that issue, however I know someone who’s unfamiliar with or less experienced with AK’s might have to pull up a” how to” video on YouTube to help you install.

I waited months for this and it it does not fit my PSA ak-105. It’s too short. Not sure if this is a blemish model or what.

Showed it was in stock, I ordered in the beginning of January and didn’t receive it until mid April. After all that waiting it didn’t even fit my Riley Defense RAK 47, mounted to the sight post fine but when it’s all the way down in the rear of the rifle it sits at a steep angle sloping towards the front of the rifle so much that I’m almost looking at the end of the barrel through my Holosun 510c sight. I also had to sand the rear lug/spring guide button for over an hour to get it to slide into place. It seems like a very sturdy well built piece of equipment but it didn’t fit my gun when it said it would.

I would like to start off by saying this dust cover is amazing. It’s extremely easy to install and takes approximately five minutes. The dust cover fits very snug against my Ak and does not have any wiggle to it. My only complaint about the dust cover is the spring retainer it comes with. I went to shoot my Ak and when I racked the bolt back it got locked in the rear position. I pushed the bolt forward and when I pulled the trigger the bolt got stuck again. This time however when I pushed the bolt forward it became unstuck and began to slide back and forth indicating it had no tension from the spring. I unlatched the dust and noticed it just came off and when I lifted it up I noticed the retainer was stuck in the bolt carrier. I had to use pliers to separate the recoil assembly from the bolt. I took apart the spring assembly and observed that the retainer was bent. I swapped out the retainer for the one that was previously in my Ak and I’ve had no issues since.

We all know that not every ak is built the same. I had issue installing this to my norinco mak90. I got ahold of TWS, and they walked me through modifications step by step. Very helpful and quick to respond. You get the mom and pop shop vibe from them. I really appreciate them treating the problem as if I was the only customer of the day.

I absolutely love this for my rifle! Im glad i got it. It fit on just perfectly with the directions, I love the hatch connect and its awesome to be able to move my sights wherever i want. Im very satisfied.
