The Trijicon MK III hunter 60mm is an excellent optic. I have used multiple types of Thermals including military types. This is my favorite for hunting. The image is extremely clear. I use the thermal for feral hog removal. it is much easier to identify your target with the MK III because of the clarity. You can see bark on trees and the eyes of a pig at 100yds The scope has an image enhancement option, but you don't need it because the image is so clear. The scope holds zero at all magnifications. There is an option to change from 60hz to 30hz to increase battery life which is nice when hunting all night. The calibration, or NUC as they call it is a nice feature as well. the scope tells you it needs NUC, and you calibrate when you want. Other scopes always seem to automatically recalibrate right when you need to make a shot. The menu is well thought out, it is easy to navigate, and similar controls are together. It also locks out the adjustment of the crosshairs unless you deliberately unlock them so there is no accidental adjustment leading to missed targets.
Pros:
- Clarity
- Quality
- Weight
- Calibration option
Cons:
- CR 123 batteries are expensive, but the trade off is that they are much lighter than re-chargeable battery packs.
Best Used for:
- hunting
- hunting 10yd - 300yds
- Hunting at moderate range

Item came within a week after sending ITAR certification. It was DOA out of the box. I think it we a defective battery tube because when I inserted the 3 included batteries, there were sparks when the screw on cover was attached and it immediately heated up. I called OpticsPlanet and after waiting a bit, got through and described the issue. I was immediately emailed a return UPS prepaid label and reassured that as soon as this one is received, an exchange would go out to me. Took a week for them to confirm the return and they requested another ITAR certification. A week later I received the replacement unit. I just tested it. Works great and as described. Can’t wait till the sun goes down!
Pros:
- The best thermal scope available
Best Used for:
- Turning night into day and seeing heat

I bought one before Trijicon acquired the original company (IR Defense or something). I quickly recommended this product to several people I hunt with. The picture quality is fantastic. The controls are intuitive and easy for anyone to use. It took about 5 minutes to figure out the menu, settings, controls etcetera. The zoom magnification quality is great. On a negative note, it is a battery eater. Be sure to remember to turn it off. However, Trijicon may have fixed this recently, by adding an auto-shutoff feature, I'm sure there have been some firmware updates since I purchased mine. Still, I would recommend buying rechargeable batteries (18650s are great) and even carrying some spare ones on your hunt, if you plan on being out all night. It is still the best thermal on the market, even after 5 or so years of owning it. I am glad Trijicon decided to market this item and made it more mainstream. For one, everyone knows that Trijicon does not sell junk, and frankly, there is (or was, rather) too much junk on the Thermal/I.R. market. Two, going mainstream with a quality thermal product is good for the market. By convention, competition leads to product improvement and lower prices. I have purchased many well-marketed, but poorly-made thermal imaging devices and I regret nearly all of them, minus this one. Spend the extra $, you won't regret it.
Best Regards,
Pros:
- Best thermal on the market. Bar none, Son
Cons:
- Battery Smattery. Get some rechargeable or expansion packs.

Wow I’m glad I did my research ! This is the better choice of thermal scopes. This scope is easy to operate. I haven’t tried the video yet. It comes with cable and software for a pc. I have an apple product haven’t worked that out yet. I was very pleased with the quality of image. Clear clean no haze or cloudy looking image. I held off getting a scope because I was scared to spend this much money and not be satisfied with my purchase. Well let me tell you it is worth it! I’m still shocked I spent this much money but you get what you pay for. I didn’t want to be stuck with a so so device. I am enjoying being able to see so clearly in total darkness. The pigs won’t have a chance.
Pros:
- Easy to use! Clear clean image! Strong well built quality! Instills confidence on target !
Best Used for:
- Hunting really any nighttime observation of warm blooded object.

Amazing. Wow. This product is well worth the money. Can see animals at mega distance. Extremely pleased. Very easy to use. You can see coyote ears at 500 yards easy. You can see through the brush at animals as well. It's pretty much cheating if I may say so myself. Buy once cry once you might as well get the good stuff.
Cons:
- Price but you get what you pay for
