BD's Review of Trijicon RMR HD 1x Reflex Red Dot Sights
The lens is much bigger than that of an RMR, comparable to the SRO. The lens is clearer with less blue tint. The face of the optic sits about 1/4" further forward than the RMR, so it doesn't fit well into most of my RMR holsters. It will not fit into a Safariland level 2 retention holster made for an RMR. It's also more difficult to clean the extractor on the pistol now since the optic is hanging over the breach face. The 3.5 MOA dot is fine for a pistol, but the RMR had better options on the brightness of the dot. I can't find a setting that is just right. After shooting RMR's, SRO's, Leupold Delta Points and Vortex optics, I've always been able to get the dot to just the right intensity. Not with the RMR HD; I have to settle on a bit too bright or a bit too dim.
The larger window does make getting on target fast easier. And the battery compartment on top is a much better way to go. For those two reasons alone, I prefer the RMR HD over the old RMR.
Pros:
Easier to find the dot
Can change the battery without tools
Cons:
Needs more intensity settings
Be nice if it didn't sit so far forward
Best Used for:
hitting what you are aiming at
Would Recommend:
Yes
