After purchasing and realizing that there is a milling issue where the pivot pins go through. Went through and read some of the reviews. Looks like a lot of these went out that way. Just bad QC from the factory. Will be reaching out to trybe and opticsplanet to try to get a replacement.

This upper is defective and will not attach to any lower due to the pivot pin posts not being milled flush on the sides. This makes it unusable. Clearly little to no QC on the milling process as it had to be anodized after milling, so it went through multiple steps and still shipped out this way. Upon reading other reviews it looks like many of these went out defective with the same issue.

I ordered two of these on the same order. One I received fit on my lowers just fine. The other one I could not get to fit. I did notice one bag had a large Trybe sticker on it and the other just had a barcode sticker. This makes me assume they were from two different lots. They are super light and a good looking upper. If the QC was better, I would definitely say these are an absolute deal. You just have to hope you get a good one.

fit fine but takedown pins fit real tight, easy fix, just ran some emery cloth through the upper receiver takedown holes and fit just fine ?

OK so lets get right to the point, this will not fit without minor modifiaction.

I tried this on an anderson, PSA, BCA, Aero, CA and BKF lowers.

I ordered the first one... it would not even mate up with the rear lug. yeas you could sand it down to fit, but we really shouldnt have to... te one that I did get it to go in with some force, the arch on the rear did not meet up with the receiver... like a 1/8" gap...

I returned it but asked for a replacement, figured I got a dud.

Next one, it fit better in all but was still tight, the rear arch was a better match to the receiver, but still not perfect.

I believe it is all about the rear lug - sand the sides and the bottom so it sits in arther and it should be fine, but then you may run into issues with the pins not fitting... all in all a bad experience. Returned the 2nd and went another route for my upper.

YMMV, but that was my experience.

Nice look and weight.
Had to file off coating on pivot and locking tabs to fit lower.
Rear tab needed a radius as the sharp corners in the back were interfering with the radius of the lower. Filed about an .06r on the back two corners so it would close.

The upper receiver I got didn't quit fit my lower snug as I would like. The rear curve didn't quit match my lowers curvature, A.P. gen 2 lower. Takedown pin wouldn't go in. Holes didn't line up. Some rough machine marks on the underside. The barrel nut threads where good. The finish was more charcoal than black. The packaging was very cheap, shows level of pride IMO. The receiver was insanely light weight. I wanted to keep it for that reason but I won't sacrifice when it comes to the receivers. They are the structure and house for the whole gun. If Trybe would take their stuff to the next level they'd have my business. Sent the receiver back for store credit. Optics Planet makes returns easy. Even if you want a refund instead.

i have two FDEs and one black and every one of them is different the first fde was loose as a goose and the barrel pocket and the pins were sloppy . had to be swapped around several lowers to find a reasonable fit that or use one of those rubber upper slack killer things. the second fde was much tighter in the pins and just right in the barrel pocket. the black one was tight in the pins but just right in the barrel pocket. all usable but just a shade off here or there -- i do like the light weight and that they match the trybe handguards and fit those perfectly. i would say that these uppers are more for "experienced" builders that know how to make up for things being a few thou off here or there -- like "gunsmith fit" sort of deal

The upper is extremely lightweight, kinda thought it was an empty box when i got it. I was kinda hesitant about making the purchase since going off the reviews i seemed to have a 50/50 shot if it was going to be machined correctly. While i did not have the gap that others experienced the pivot pins will not go in. I can get the front one in about halfway and can clearly see a ledge where they did not fully go through and the back will not go in at all. Im sure with a little work i can fix it but def not something you will be able to use right out of the box.
