I am an idiot
I complained about Trybe and left a bad review about them forgetting to send the handguard screws. They sent replacements and at the same time I found the original screws on my garage floor as they had apparently fell out of the package when I opened it. Totally my fault but their service is good....

Looks great, but not so much
Looks and feels good in the hands, but it’s poorly constructed does not have the best mechanisms for holding true. In fact, I had to add a piece on the Picatinny top to keep the two aligned there are tabs to keep it from rotating, but they’re not a tight enough fit and still allow some movement wher...

Trybe Defense - Great Budget Handguard
I was very pleased with the quality of the 9" handguard. The only thing I would have changed is to have the area or section where the QD is located be milled out to allow for more mlok slots because there is not a lot of real estate available on the shorter versions.

12" Trybe Handguard, Full top rib.
Very nicely designed and well made handguard. My only complaints are that the anti-rotate tabs do not fit real tight to the upper receiver. The screws that tighten the guard to the barrel nut are not counter bored and rest on top of the metal surface. Not a real biggy, as the screws can be swapped out with 10-32 button-head screws. Great handguard forr the price!!!

very light indeed, but also quite fragile.
i ordered this to give my ar a makeover, the handguard looks cool and i like the simple style of it.
the handguard is very light. it's lighter than many other things on my bench, like a low pro gas block, or even a pocket knife. it's pretty light.
specs that i could find on the trybe website say that the barrel nut should be torqued to 35-40 foot pounds, and the mounting screws to not be torqued higher than 3 foot pounds (36 inch pounds).
i chose to torque the barrel nut to a little over 30 foot pounds, being afraid of ruining the magnite barrel nut. this seems to have been a good idea given what happens next.
the first mounting screw i attempted to torque to 30 inch pounds instead of 36 (again, trying not to ruin the handguard) but yet 30 inch pounds was too much and i could hear the handguard creaking and ultimately righty tighty became righty loosey.
i left that mounting screw where it was, so it can have at least a little bit of thread as a treat, instead of continuing to strip the threads.
the second mounting screw i decided to torque even lower, to 20 inch pounds, but as i was nearing the 20 inch pounds i could hear the handguard creaking and decided to stop where i was.
i'm quite disappointed with the mounting screws, but they should be fine as they are right now. if i ever have to take the handguard off, it's probably not going back on right.
it does look sleek, it is very light, i just wish it went on correctly.

Pros:
- Very light
- Simple

Cons:
- mounting screws are weak
- magnite seems to be fragile
Best Used for:
- weight reduction
- simple aesthetics

Great for Budget Builds
This thing works. Nothing fancy or tacticool about it. It just works. The coating is not something you'd expect to hold up to abuse, but, let's be real. Most gun owners don't abuse their rifles, so it's fine.

ok, but who TF machines this thing?
Light weight and smooth finish but the qd holes are basically just for show since they're too small to fit standard qd mounts and then the screw holes are too small to allow the supplied screws to sit flush so they're gonna scratch up the rail when u tighten it and it feels like the thread pattern is wrong for the said screws or it from the cerakote. Works for a cheap build

.Absolute rubbish out of spec in several ways
This should have been shop recycle scrap. Instead OP is trying to cut their losses by pawning this off on us. The sling socket holes are too small, out of spec and don’t accept regular sling attachments. The screws are too short and the aluminum will give way before you reach a reasonable clamping power with the screws… Finish is very thin and not well done. With longer screws I was able to get it to work, albeit a temporary fix until I buy ANOTHER HG made by a reputable company. Don’t let the low price lure you in!
Pros:
- its made of metal
Cons:
- everything else
Best Used for:
- Sell as recycling scrap for beer money

its maybe mid
It feels super light but it also feels super cheep I’d almost go as far as saying it feels like holding a stronger polymer hand guard

be careful with the barrel nut
Definitely do not go past 35 foot pounds with the barrel nut. I always use aeroshell lubricant and season the threads by hand tightening then remove all the way 20 foot pounds then remove all the way. I usually torque aluminum barrel nuts to 40 foot pounds but the Trybe defense nut twisted into two pieces. I didn’t even make it to the 40 pound click on the torque wrench. I even compared my wheeler wrench to my snap on in the garage and they are identical. So that build came to a hard stop and had to order another.

Beautiful furniture
Absolutely perfect, exactly what I expected. I absolutely love the way it fits and looks on my rifle. Definitely going to buy more Trybe products in the future.
