4.5 stars! for this price point, its a buy!!! - TRYBE Defense R.O.C.S. Rapid Offense Chassis System

Bought this for a Ruger American .308 which could not put two holes on paper inside a 4" diameter at 50yds. As a school educated Gunsmith and shop owner, I have evaluated enough guns to know there is more to accuracy than just one thing - its often an number of small adjustments that slowly bring groupings together, and the shooter is a large part of that.
Shooting this gun allowed me to prioritize the number of things to be adjusted/tweaked. Changing out the stock was first. Ruger American is a good low end rifle, and the lowest end part of that rifle is the stock. Applying the TRYBE R.O.C.S. was a leap of faith since I had not experienced this brand previously. This Chassis does not come with simplified bells and whistles like the high end ones like easy adjustable cheek riser or LOP, but with a price point in the mid $300 area, and a solid aluminum body, I knew what I was getting and was willing to give it a try. I intentionally did not adjust anything else on the firearm so I could determine the extent of improvement (or not) from the Chassis alone. The result is 1-1 3/4" groups at 100yds. With that much improvement, I have ruled out adjusting/tweaking a couple other things, but still have 1, maybe 2 things to do to the firearm that I feel may improve things a bit more. However, I am pleasantly impressed with the accuracy improvement. This Chassis added some weight to the firearm overall, since the original synthetic stock was featherlight. Also, with all the LOP spacers in place on the buttstock, the LOP measures at 13 1/4" which is just still slightly shorter than my fit (though I'm sure it will work well during heavy clothing months). Relative Pistol grip and trigger distance are spot on. The Chassis does not use the original stock bolts, but proper ones come with the new stock. One big disappointment is that the OpticsPlanet website does not tell you that your original stocks magazine will not fit the Chassis (which is almost a no brainer), but moreso, does not explain that you need to purchase a magazine that will fit the Chassis because one does not come with. Nor do they tell you which magazine will fit. This is not a slight on the Chassis itself, but needs to be mentioned. I sure hope they adjust the info on the website to include this at some point. FYI, for this particular stock, this mag was recommended after I spoke with Customer Service...$32.99 Magpul Industries PMAG 5 7.62 AC - AICS Short Action 7.62X51mm NATO, Black MAG549-BLK, 55-RM-MPMAC-MAG549-BLK-5RD. So, really good, solid chassis at a really good price. As long as I find the feed works properly when I receive the magazine, I will be a verbal supporter of the TRYBE R.O.C.S.
