Expert Review

Replaced McMillan stock, super-rigid but lively, excellent machining and Cerakote, hi-cap AICS mags!

by Stevey GB, Gear Expert from TX, United States Written on June 16, 2023
Stellar one piece minimalist aluminum chassis, barreled action bolts right into body for increased accuracy and usability.
I replaced the stock on my Savage 10FCP McMillan with this stock. Yep, I replaced an expensive McMillan stock with this TRYBE aluminum chassis. Although this McMillan stock was considered the best of its time when I bought it, it was not glass-bedded, and it was not on pillars, both which can increase accuracy in general.
So I hung that gorgeous spider-webbed big black stock on a peg and installed this aluminum race car with the TRYBE logo on it. I chose OD green.
Installation was simple as pie and as satisfying a seamless fit as you can imagine, since it's simply bolted, metal-on-metal for a perfect interface that won't warp or change your point of impact regardless of temperature or humidity. It's a livelier stock than most solid aluminum stocks, and it's less complicated because it offers only length and comb adjustments, whereas other stocks have myriad available adjustments that frankly, are not always needed, and cause some to mess with their settings ad infinitum rather than practicing fundamental shooing form. Often, more adjustments on a chassis may be a detriment because it takes away the realization that it's the shooter, mainly, not just your equipment that needs to perform.
The machining is gorgeous and so is the Cerakote. I see zero machine marks anywhere, and the polymer trigger housing is also attractive and installed with a roll pi...

Simple but really well made chassis. Lightweight, clean lines, and the features you need. The included stock is pretty short for me even with the included spacers installed so while I liked the various cheek risers they included, I needed to pick up an extra spacer kit. The MDT spacer kit worked wo...

Most Helpful Negative Review Started falling apart after 4 boxes of ammo
Two little screws on the inside that hold the trigger guard fell out the mag well. They are machine screws into plastic with only an eighth inch of thread engagement and threads pulled. Rear tang was also binding on chassis so not free floating. Shot horribly. Mapul mags don't fit well, don't feed w...

I bought a Howa Mini action in a really bad chassis from Howa. The Trybe R9cS chassis is nice.

Nice chassis for a good price. Can’t get an Arca rail to go all the way to the mag well. Easy to put together.

  • Had to buy an Arca rail.

Definitely worth its price tag.

I have two of these trybe chassis'. Ive had them for a year or so. They're nothing fancy, but definitely serve the purpose well for the cost. I prefer a rubber more vertical grip, which can be swapped out simply. (personal preference). I do alot of coyote hunting at night, off of tripods. So the only flaw for my typical use is the mlok slots in the underside of forearm. It'd be nice if the slots had 1 more slot closer to the mag well. So you can put arca plate farther back closer to mag well for a better balance of the rifle. Which is corrigible by making your own hole with a drill or using a longer arca rail and let it run long past the last hole. But doin that your arca rail isnt tightly connected to the gun for the last few inches. The shortest cheek adjustment works well with low pro daytime scopes and the mid or higher cheek piece work well for higher mounted thermals. All in all its a good upgrade for shooting/hunting purposes as well as looks. Its not really light weight, but definitely not heavy like an oryx or similar competitor comparables. All in all, in my opinion its a heck of a good chassis for tbe price.
Pros:
  • Price, adjustability
Cons:
  • Be nice if one more mlok slot on underside of forearm

Great for the price

Picked this up on sale for a Howa 1500 mini action in 22arc. Barreled action dropped in without any issues. Factory mags are tight but I’m sure it’ll break it for quick in and outs. I might need additional LOP spacers but the included comb height adjustments allowed me to get the perfect fit for a 50mm objective scope. Only thing to make it better would be for was this to take pmags over the factory Howa magazines.
Best Used for:
  • Coyote , varmint hunting & now target shooting

Excellent value chassis

by Mat, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on December 9, 2025
This chassis is an amazing value for the price I got it for. The quality is excellent, many of the touch points are MDT components meaning there is interchangeability of parts, machining quality is excellent. My only minor thing keeping this from 5 stars is the cheek riser, there are 4 risers that come with it, in roughly quarter inch height increments, so you might be between heights if your scope has a tight eye box, or the tallest riser might be too short. That was nearly the case for me. The risers are also a little tricky to remove and to get a bore guide in for a cleaning rod, you WILL have to remove the riser unless you use the shortest one. Overall, very happy, doesn’t have the features of a top shelf chassis, but is a quarter the price.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Quality
Cons:
  • Adjustability
Best Used for:
  • Target shooting & competition

solid, lightweight, simple. love it.

Long time shooter, both long range precision and pistol.

Got this for my .300 blk howa 1500 mini build. Love the way it turned out.

Put a decent scope on this, whole package (without suppressor) was around 9.5 lbs, feels lightweight and rigid. Grip that came on it was fine but I wanted something with more aggressive texture. Had plenty of AR grips around to choose from.

Performance was great. Was hitting nice tight groups, action was smooth everything cycling perfect. Comfortable to shoot.

I have a few other projects that I will definitely buy this chassis for. Really good price for the quality.
