Most Helpful Positive Review Great Red Dot
I bought one of these after using a friend of mines, who fell in love with his, because this is the red dot that was used in the "Call of Duty" games, MW2, MW3 and he went after finding the company, if you've played those games and like that sight, this is it and this company has been around for qui...

I bought this thing and used it maybe 3 times on a Russian SKS. Next time I took it out I noticed the screen was slightly tilted affecting the patterns projected. I sent it back withe the filled out warranty card and after the two women who run the company played good cop bad cop with me they agreed...

Highest Quality

by Joeray, from FL, United States Written on February 9, 2021
Pan AV from Ultra Dot is one of the better brands and models with a real lifetime warranty. Have been using this model for 8 or more years. This one is for a new gun. They hold zero reliably and are light and compact with a large field of view has a thin frame that doesn't obscure targets during action shooting.
Pros:
  • Best performanc and quality, reliable
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Steel Challenge and steel plate shooting
  • Steel Challenge

Do not buy any Ultradot. particularly the Pan A/V

by DLo, from MD, United States Written on September 29, 2020
I had the same experience as the other person that had the broken aluminum screw. I had the same thing happen to me and you can only get this screw from Ultradot. The glass in the Pan A/V then shattered and Ultradot would not honor the warranty nor replace the sight. They said the glass cannot be repaired and only offered to sell me a refurbished one for $125. This company does not care about the customer and only cares about getting money. If you buy the crappy Pan A/V you will be sorry. If any of their other products break, you as the customer will not be put first. Surprised this company is still around!

Buy something else.

by Nickname, from MN, United States Written on April 8, 2020
Short version - DO NOT BUY ULTRADOT, they are not worth the money. Bought this sight based on the general good reviews here. My experience was not so good. Sight worked OK to start, but then the reticle started to go out while in use like a loose connection. I didn’t send it in for warranty because I would be responsible for shipping both ways, and, honestly, this sight isn’t worth it to me. The other thing that happened is a bolt for the base sheared off when tightening. I was not using excessive force. This bolt seemed to have a very low yield strength. Contacted the company asking them to send new bolts under warranty. They told me they would not cover the bolt under warranty but told me I could buy a new one from them. Without metalurgic testing it would be their policy against my word. No, the customer is not always right, but it’s not like I was asking for a new sight and I’m not trying to pull something over on them about not over torquing the bolt. They charge $5 for the bolt. It probably costs them pennies. So that was the final straw for me. They are willing to risk losing a customer over a few pennies. Good luck with honoring their warranty if it might cost them more than pennies. Sight can’t be trusted for anything more than plinking unless you are OK with missed opportunities when hunting if the reticle goes out. Definitely not a good idea for home defense (not my intended purpose when I bought this, so this isn’t my issue).

  • plinking

I would recommend this sight any time. Very Nice

Poor quality sight. Bad customer service

by Magnum shooter, from TN, United States Written on February 9, 2018
I bought this site for a 460 Magnum because the company recommended it and assured me that it would handle the severe recoil of that pistol. After about 20 rounds The Recoil blue the battery cap off and the electronics went completely out in the site was not working. I sent it in for repair and I got this site back approximately 2 months later and The Recoil blew the battery cap off again. Obviously they were wrong about the durability for a severe recoil Magnum. I mounted it to a 4570 rifle that does not have much recoil and the site has become blurry and a very fuzzy pattern in the rectal. I sent it back in and knowing they would blame my eyesight so I wrote a note and told them I had just been to the eye doctor and I have 20-15 Vision with no astigmatism and I don't wear glasses or contacts. When I got the site back it had a note that said to check the website about problems with my vision. They did nothing. I requested that they replace the site and they wouldn't do that. Bad quality and horrible customer service. They do not stand behind their product
Pros:
  • small and lightweight
Cons:
  • Not durable and poor customer service
Best Used for:
  • a paperweight

good buck for the bang

by Heinrich8000, from Hessia, Germany Written on January 7, 2018
I have shot this red dot on 7,62x39 and on 22 lr. The good thing is that it
is rugged and holds absolutely zero even after many rounds fired. There are
no doubts about this excellent red dot. It depends on what you want to use
it for. When somebody tries to break into your home at night, you wil be happy
to have it since it works outstandingly well. Other sights will hinder you in
that defense situation or even make it impossible to aim when it´s dark. When
not finding the right view into the scope or red dot one is toasted ! This would
not happen with this one ! I was sadly lazy too and did not do enough target
practice with it. It is not a cheap peace of China junk but for my needs well
manufactured. Made in Japan stands on it. So far I am very impressed by the
quality of the optic and can warmly recommend it to anybody when it´s super
dark and having no exta light. I have no money for nightvision and so... this
is the poor man´s night fighting device. When having Night Vision goggles,
it would be more than cool to have this item. It is a win whatever you decide
to do. I have paid for mine more than 250 $ and I am glad that I did. For
those who had fewer luck with it, I must say that you should try to use a
rail mount in between to absorb the hard shock wave magnum calibers are
tending to produce during shooting. I hope it is a worthy solution. I wish
all shooters and readers much luck with that wonderful red dot and feeling
happy too when fina...

Have owned 6 of these for about 6 or 7 years

by Donald, from MN, United States Written on August 4, 2017
I have 6 of these sights mounted on the following firearms: Ruger MK III 22LR target pistol, S&W 686 .357 magnum, Ruger Super Redhawk .44 magnum, Ruger Super Redhawk .454 Casull, Freedom Arms .454 Casull, Ruger 10/22 rifle, Thompson Center .50 caliber Bone Collector black powder rifle. All have performed well for me and have held their zeros well with many rounds fired thru the various handgun including the large magnum calibers. The Ultradot on the heavy recoiling .50 caliber Thompson Center has also served me well. The brightness adjustments function well thru the full range of light conditions from bright sunny days to late in the day dark overcast lighting conditions.
I only use the plain red dot and have never used any of the other 3 reticles so I cannot speak to the functionality of those reticles. However, the size and clarity of the plain dot has served me well for both hunting and target shooting. The only problem that I have experienced is the sights are fragile to the extent that they will likely not survive the impact if the firearm they are mounted on is dropped. I dropped my Freedon Arms .454 Casull and the sight shattered and was not fixable, but I consider that my being at fault and I promptly replaced the sight with another Ultradot Pan AV. I must admit that I purchased all but one of my sights during a time period in which they could be found online during sale promotions in the $160-$165 price range but I still consider the current prices of $235-$250 to b...

Ultradot Pan AV Red Dot Sight

by Eaglegolfer, from CA, United States Written on December 22, 2016
Excellent product. I have 5, on my S & W 629, on my S & W 657, on my Marlin 336, on my Marlin SBL, and on my FN AR. Fast easy acquisition on my target, mostly wild boars, bears and deer. The four different reticles and the 6 or 7 brightnesses make this an extremely versatile sight.

Not for High Power Handgun

by bionic billy, Verified Owner from NM, United States Written on November 30, 2016
Bought this for a .460 S&W mag handgun because I was told by the manufacturer's rep it would handle the heavy recoil. Practical experience and a lot of wasted, expensive ammo proved them wrong. I could not get the sight to keep zero for even one shot. I had better luck with iron sights at 25 yds.
It's probably a good sight for light caliber weapon. Can't send it back so that's where I will use it and hope it works there.
Pros:
  • multi reticle
Cons:
  • won't hold zero for high power
  • reticle brightness knob is loose
Best Used for:
  • light caliber handgun/rifle

After 2 years of use, this is what people really need to know about this sight

by TM4, from TN, United States Written on March 3, 2016
Well after living with this Reflex sight for a couple of years, I would say save your money and buy a "name brand" sight, like Aimpoint, Eotech or Trijicon. This sight is NOT robust, especially the viewing window is very fragile. I have had to be VERY mindful of how I treat it. It was dropped the other day and shattered it. Naturally no reflex is robust at ALL. How ever, they should consider making some type of protection add on mount like Burris does with the Fast Fire sights. Also I noticed that the "red dot" had started breaking down and getting distorted a little. Not a good sight for this kind of money at all. It does hold it's zero. An Aimpoint T2 would be far superior. I do not recommend this sight. Unfortunately most people have not had things long enough to review them, I have now and this as why the follow up to my review of this item when I purchased it from here. My old review is under TM4.
Pros:
  • Holds a good zero
Cons:
  • fragile
  • weak made
  • Red dot seemed to be separating
Best Used for:
  • nothing
