BeepBoop's Review of Leapers UTG Pro Angled Index Mount

I wasn't sure if this was worth the price at first but I purchased one out of curiosity and I couldn't be more pleased. It's very useful, and the angle is just right to get a nice strong grip on it with your thumb, especially when paired with a finger/handstop or other foregrip. It's especially useful if you run a tape switch for your WML on your top rail and find that your thumb-over grip is resulting in bad light discipline. It allows you to perform almost the same grip on the handguard while keeping your thumb away from any light controls. I like to remove the spacer and run it as tight to the handguard as possible, but those with larger thumbs or oddly shaped handguards will definitely find the spacer useful. My only suggestion would be a different shape or texturing on the top of the thumb pad. A scalloped/concave design with some light checkering or a grippy rubber cap would be much more comfortable. I will likely just modify mine with some Sugru moldable rubber, but it would have been better if there was just a bit more thought put into its shape. Otherwise the overall idea and engineering of it is pretty unique and genuinely a pleasure to use.
Pros:
  • Comfortable, useful, good size
Cons:
  • Price, thumb pad texture could be better
Best Used for:
  • Thumb/weapon light discipline
