Pricey but the value is in the details
Coming from the Pacific NW we have many high quality metal manufacturers and aluminum producers. Boeing started the demand and now we have top quality parts shops for every industry and especially firearms. Noveske, Aero Precision, Rainier Arms, Radian, Lazy Wolf and more represent some great tale...

Not impressed
I hope I can save a few people the time from making a mistake. This upper looks great but don't let that fool you. I was really excited when I got this in the mail but for the moment I picked it up I was disappointed. The feel of it just wasn't there, almost felt cheap. So with spending the money I...

If going the lightest weight possible without sacrificing quality or reliability then get this
Most AR15 owners out there probably can’t justify themselves into spending $350+ on this upper receiver when their $65 “anderson upper does the job enough” for them. But if you are like me and enjoy building ultra light weight AR15’s as one of your AR15 hobby’s or just want a top of the line upper pr want something to show off at the range then this may be what you are looking for. V seven makes top quality stuff, I own a good amount of their products including their sister company’s dark hour defenses products also. This is one of the lightest alloy uppers out there besides maybe a few others but some of those require you to buy the upper and lower as a set and none are going to be as light and as strong as this one made from lithium aluminum.
The anodizing is more of a matte type, I’m assuming due to the type of alloy used compared to 7075 or 6061 aluminum anodizing so might be difficult to find exact a matched anodized black lower that matches this ones anodizing besides the v seven 2055 lower. I cerakoted my whole ar15 that i used this on so the anodizing was no issue for me but might be for others that care if the lower and upper might be slightly different tones of black if used with a different lower other than v sevens 2055 lower.

Exceeded expectations
Machining quality, fitment, and precision of the threads were all impeccable, and it is indeed light weight. Charging handle (Radian Raptor) and milspec BCG glided smoothly in their respective channels. Face was true, so didn't need any truing; I've assemble nearly three hundred uppers in the past couple years, and every single one, with the exception of VLTOR's MURs, needed truing to some degree, so this was a pleasant surprise. The material itself is claimed to be some wonder alloy, but I can't speak to the veracity of the manufacturer's claims. What I can tell you is that the coating doesn't play well with the alloy, or the upper was not cleaned properly prior to anodizing, and it wears much faster than it should. With that being said, as awesome as this unit is in theory, I don't think the price is justified, unless you just REALLY want to flex on your friends. In which case, flex away.
Pros:
- light weight
- Rigid
- precision machining
Cons:
- Expensive
- Poor coating durability
Best Used for:
- Flexing on your fellow LARPers.
