"NOT III+" won't stop XM855 green tip
I bought 3 complete sets of armor from opticsplanet, all VISM III+ plates, (I'm aware there not rated by the national institute of Justice) which is why I have to put them over top of kevlar in order to carry them at work however after buying an entire set just to test they did not hold up to XM855 green tip 5.56 !
Threat Test
I tested a 10x12 plate at 15 yards, shot it in order, with two Winchester M855, two Winchester .45 230 grain FMJ, and one Federal 12 guage 2 3/4 inch #4 buckshot. The M855 was used in a PSA PA15 with a 16in barrel 1 in 7 twist, it passed through, but only the mild steal core, the jacket and lead was caught by the plate; there was maybe 1/5 an inch of back face defamation. The .45 was used in a S&W M&P 2.0 full size and was stopped on the first layer with no back face defamation. The 12 guage was used in a Remington 870 20 inch barrel and was stopped on the first layer with no back face defamation.
Pros:
- Lightweight
- multiple hit capable
Cons:
- Not rated for M855 in CQB distances
Best Used for:
- first time buyers
- Mountain kit, long distance engagement

Pricey Yet Worthy
I've been buying and upgrading armor for decades, largely as a mechanism of my police and police training career. The obvious threat level increase --- from handgun threats to rifles, has necessitated constant reevaluation. These polyurethane plates have enabled me to retain Level III+ protection while cutting weight by 2/3s, compared to Level III steel plates. In addition, these plates are buoyant in water. The only drawback? Price. But you likely won't find them sold for less, anywhere.
Pros:
- lightweight Buoyancy
Cons:
- Pricey $$$
Best Used for:
- Active Shooter go-bag.
- High-risk assignments.

One of the most affordable and effective non-steel plates in the market
This is one of the most affordable and effective non-steel plates in the market that I've found today. Additionally, 10% discount that I got from Opticsplanet has made this even more affordable. I've actually purchased two sets of this type of plates from Opticsplanet, 10x12 and 11x14. They are light and comfortable to wear in a good carrier and or vest. I have seen some Youtube reviews on this same type of plates and believe that they are good for they're rated and intended for. I've been using these plates as an alternate to my AR500 and AR600 plates. I would recommend these plates from my family and friends.
Pros:
- Affordable and light
Cons:
- Slightly thicker. Not made in the U.S.

nice plates
These plates are very light weight, about an inch and a half thick though I’d say. Very thick.
I ordered the body guard level 3+ plates but the shipping time was long so optics planet sent me these instead which I was very happy for.
Only issue is the package was damaged upon arrival. I believe the plates may be okay though.

10x12 plates from a big guy's perspective.
Alright, so these plates despite being cheap for what they are, are pretty decent for the money. Stops everything up to .308 ball. Does not stop M855.
Covers my vitals pretty well but plenty of thicc mushrooms out the sides.
If you're a big boi like me, you'll look like an armchair commando that hasn't left the house in 2 years. With all that's happened recently, I decided to get a couple rifle plates just in case a riot breaks out here. Hope I never actually have to test them.

Great plates
Awesome product! These plates are a little on the bigger side, so take that into consideration with your plate carrier. I like how tight they fit because it makes the carrier look great and theres no loose ends. Great plates and reliable.

Good value
I have two in a Spartan Armor DL concealment vest. Very tight fit getting them in the carriers. Once in I would not want to remove them because it was tedious getting them in. Go a little bit at a time on each side left then right of the carrier to inch them in.

Good for the price. Qore vests beware
Seems like a good product built well and will do what I need. Just an FYI. I barely got these into my Qore Performance plate carrier. They are a bit wider than other plate in my limited experience. They did go in but not without great force. Had they not been wrapped in fabric I would have lubed em up.
