Don't hesitate worth every penny!
I'm running one of these on a PSA Lower with SBA3 brace, & 11.5 BCM 556 upper.
I have 3 other AR pistols and all my buddies run pistols too.
The AR with this kit is the softest shooting AR pistol I've ever run and my buddies drool over it.
As for reliability I've used M193 xm855 and not had any hiccups.
I've just picked up a 10.5 upper that I'm going to eventually run this kit on as well.
Honestly feels like shooting a nice mid-length gas system.
Better than a standard kit
I'm glad I found out about this kit and tried it out. It was what I needed for an overgassed spikes barrel and a tailhook. In the end I ended up using something different, but I may use this on another build in the future. Supposedly this adds reliability to your weapon since it uses the a5 buffer and a rifle spring. Phase 5 makes a pistol buffer tube that is designed for the tailhook and it uses a rifle buffer and spring plus it adds length to your pistol.

Smooth and Reliable
Not like you have a lot of recoil from a .223, but this is one more product that just sets your build apart from others. I have the Vltor A5 on 2 builds and they both are softer shooting without compromising reliability. If your looking to add that extra “touch” to a build, especially a pistol, then go with the A5 for sure!

Great product for your AR pistol build or MK18
I did some research and spoke with several members of the Military and also armorer's that shoot or carry a MK18 type weapon. I was informed to use the Vltor A% kit for my AR pistol build and could not be happier. Since I am still in the middle of the build, which should be finished next week, I have not shot it as of yet. Have used Vltor products in the past and have never had a issue or malfunction. Highly recommend this item for the AR pistol. Slows down the BCG and provides a reduced recoil.

Best for 10.5 barrels
Bought this for my mk18 DD and it def slowed down the bolt speed. Works suppressed, non suppressed. Also gives a longer length of pull. I will start changing our most of my buffers for vltor a5 eventually. Soft recoil and soft shooting for sure! Worth the $$$$ paid
