Now my Mark IV is decked out an beautiful. It cycles even more smootly. I feel the accuracy also notably improved.

Flawless function and silky smooth. I was on the fence determining which bolt and finish to go with my new MKIV. Going with VQ was an easy decision, but selecting the finish was a little tougher. DLC vs TiN in a semi auto rimfire may not matter much, but this thing is sleek, almost completely frictionless, very easy to clean, and looks pretty dang cool. Durability and wear resistance is to be determined, with only 1000rds down range so far. But cleaning this thing is effortless. I’m impressed so far, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this bolt, black or gold, to anyone who loves their MK.

These bolts are great if you shoot Ruger MK series guns. This is my third one so I have them in all three guns. They are much improved over the standard bolt and the knob makes them easy to cycle compared to the ears of the original bolt that also stick out on both sides and wear holes in your clothes if you carry one regularly. They supposedly improve functioning reliability but the original built and the Ruger MK guns are VERY reliable to start.

This is my third Volquartsen made Ruger bolt but the first gold one. The color makes no difference other than…. Color. Both are plated is the same super tough coating and they don’t scratch or collect residue like the standard bolts. My primary reason for loving them is they remove the rough edges created by the finger grooves of the standard bolts. I carry one of my three Ruger 22 pistols regularly and the knob end grasp point narrows the pistol nicely. The other upgrades in the bolt increase reliability.

love volquartsen..swapped out this and a gold trigger on my OD green scorpion . looks incredible and performs just the same. i also have 3 mark iv’s that have the black DLC they all perform great . have had much extraction or feeding problems. Some of those are probably because of cheap ammo . never with mini mag or stingers So far

I don’t think you can appreciate, just how good this looks, especially if you have gold accents from the factory, without the ability of attaching pictures to the review. I have the Mk IV 22/45 lite, in black with the gold barrel and gold trigger. I’ve also replaced the black grip panels, with Hogue panels in green lava. Part number for OP, is 79148. I also changed the OEM trigger for a gold Volquartsen accuritizing kit, also bought through Optics Planet; part # VC4AK-GT. It really is beautiful!
The bolt itself, is very slick. A little dab of oil goes a long way. The gold coating, also seems extremely tough. After a couple of hundred rounds, there’s not even a scratch. I did change the spring that it came loaded with, to the included low power spring. (It also came with the gold high power spring)I primarily shoot suppressed, with either standard velocity or suppressed ammo.(100%) But, I think I’m going to switch back to the original spring, it came pre-loaded with. CCI ammo is pretty reliable, and I had some rounds that failed to fully cycle. But that’s on me.
Pros:
- Looks
- grab handle is more comfortable
- tough as nails coating
- lubricity is much improved

Beauty at a cost. Works great, a much nicer fit and finish than the stock bolt. No more pinched fingers. Looks fantastic! I have probably put two or three hundred rounds through this and the DLC finish doesn't show any signs of wear yet.
