As expected
Volquartzen and Ruger go together like peanut butter and jelly. It's always a faultless and reliable combination.
This kit was no exception. While my Ruger MK III was a great target gun ( in part due to the Volquartzen Hard Sear I had previously installed,) it did have occasional hick-ups with certain brands of target /low velocity ammunition. This kit cured that. Have not tried the heavier spring yet but I'm thinking it would work well for running CCI mini-mags on the silhouette range.
Recoil rod
A great upgrade to my 22/45. It is nice to be able to change this spring tension on the bolt. I was having issues where the bolt would not remain open after the last round. With the lighter spring I no longer have that issue. The gun cycles better without any problems even with cheaper ammo.

Volquartsen VS3 Recoil Rod Spring and Assembly Kit For Ruger MKI, II, II, 22/45
Very nice. Standard spring already assembled on recoil rod. Lower power spring and higher powered spring packaged separately Recoil rod parts nicely polished. Drop in standard spring assembly, lightly lubricate, reassemble pistol, and test fire. Switch springs if needed. Cannot ask for more. Reasonably priced.
Pros:
- easy installation
Cons:
- Have to diassemble recoil rod assembly to change springs.
Best Used for:
- Tuning of Ruger Mk I, II, II, and 22/45 pistols

Ruger spring
The replacement was exactly right. I was surprised it was available for a 50 yr old gun. Very satisfied. I was also pleased with the price . Installing the spring easy and the gun isnow shooting properly.

Gun Smith long range shooter
The parts work well as advertised the only thing you need to do before installing the parts is too polish the rod your spring rides on so it doesn't bind anywhere during cycling. On some of the reviews they said they had too file down places on the part too make it work. 99 percent of the time it's not that it's the spring binding on the recoil rod. Mine bound up when i first put it in the gun i removed it sprayed dye on it tried it again removed it looked for marks of where it was hitting it wasn't it was the spring binding on the rod.
Pros:
- Easy too install
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Anyone wanting too make your gun work better
