Vortex Sets the Standard Yet Again
I am a fan of vortex optics but they always manage to raise the bar.
This is a solid red dot for concealed carry applications. The optic itself is robust and reliable.
Yes, the refresh rate isn't "perfect" but that is only noticed in very specific circumstances. When I am shooting with the optic, I do not notice any issues with the refresh rate. Even when doing long distance, rapid target transitions (which is very uncommon for a defensive pistol use) I never feel like i lost the dot or am waiting for it to catch up. I have the 3moa dot so maybe the issue is more noticeable on the 6moa dot but I havent experienced it.
But it is how Vortex packaged this optic that should make every other manufacturer take note. They include everything you might need, clearly labeled. They include multiple screw sets for different guns, a shim plate for zero-ing under 15 yards, and an adjustment tool that works on their optic and others.
I bought an aftermarket tool for my SRO battery cover and the tool vortex includes works just as good as the one i bought.
I would love to see them offer this same setup in a "full size" version meant for the RMR footprint.
Another great product from Vortex that forces all others to do better or be left behind.

Best Red Dot I Have Used On My 10MM Pistol
I have shot over 500 rounds from my 10MM M&P 2 Smith & Wesson with no issues from the Defender CCW optic it did not even loosen up the factory (blue color) thread locker that was on the screws provided with the optic. Vortex Defender for Glock 43X
Debated for some time on what optic to get because there is so much hype over the Holosun EPS Carry. But the truth is these have the exact same footprint -- the physical differences in width (0.03 inches) and total height over the slide (0.00 inches) are practically indistinguishable to the human eye and do not affect how the gun carries or conceals. I much prefer the Defender because 1. you don't need an adapter plate, it sits directly on the pistol and 2. it's very durable and has a life time warranty. I do not carry all day every day so I have very little concern about lint getting into the emitter which is really the only sell for the Holosun and for me not worth the $100 difference in price. Vortex is excellent for the Glock MOS!

Vortex Defender CCW
I put this optic on a Titan X Dry Fire Laser Trainer. The sight fit perfectly on the RMRs mounting system. One day, I will install this red dot on a live-fire weapon, but now I’m using it to enhance skills off the range.

Amazing Red Dot
The red dot has a small profile and conceals easily on my TX22C, Glock 27, and P17. The shake awake is good. The auto shutoff after 10 min is a huge upgrade from the previous 14 hour time. The dot gets very bright on the highest settings, and almost too bright even in the sun. Turrets are not clicky at all, are sort of mushy and hard to "feel". But, I was able to sight in within about 7 shots with no problems. I think smaller red dots all have pretty much the same turret feel though. I would definitely purchase again and recommend to anyone on the fence about this one.
On a side note:
I bought 2 of these at the same time, and I am pretty sure one of them was used. The turrets has some marring and the up button was not functioning properly. Rather than send it back to OP and have to wait 2-4 weeks to get it replaced, I got in touch with Vortex directly. Vortex had me send it in and they verified the issues and are replacing it 100% as well as covered all shipping to and from. The lifetime warranty is what encouraged me to purchase this over the 507K. The warranty did not disappoint.
On a side note:

Vortex Defender CCW Red Dot
The red dot sight was very easy to install. The Vortex fits my Glock 43X MOS very nicely. Finding the red dot with the 3 moa is very easy. I was worried with astigmatism it would be difficult but it is not.

Great CCW optic
I did a lot of research and talked to many LE friends to get insight on replacing the cheap plastic optic on my Springfield XD9. I was prepared to drop $800 on a fancy Japanese brand, but Vortex' reputation and this Defender exceeded my requirements. The adjustable brightness is an awesome feature that I wasn't aware of when I purchased. I assume this will help save battery life when I'm not at the range.
