The Vortex Diamondback spotting scope is a great lower priced value. Great optics for the price.

Very good scope, mounts well, robust and huge objective lens! great in low light conditions. Will be using for hunting, bird watching, and much more.

I am just getting started in NRL 22, so I picked up the spotting scope from Optics Planet. They had it at a great price and delivery was extremely quick.

I am very impressed with how clear the optic is and how easy it is to use.

I had pretty high expectations for this 20-60x85mm Diamondback Spotting Scope due to the "Vortex" name brand, ownership of 4 Vortex rifle scopes and a few of the 5-star reviews of this product. But, I was a bit disappointed in the overall clarity of paper targets at 100 yards down range. I was shooting 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 rounds onto splatter and paper targets. At 100 yards, the holes were pretty visible, but not super sharp - I would have thought that I would have gotten a crisper image. I previously purchased a Gosky Updated 20-60x80 Spotting Scopes with Tripod on Amazon (for a lot less!) and felt that the image crispness was equal to or better than the Vortex.
The day I went to the range, the wind was blowing pretty good with 5-7 mph wind and occassional 20 mph gusts....
So, I am going to go to the range again to check out the crispness at 100 yards out.

I liked how easily the eyepiece and magnification adjusted with the rings wrapping around the body and eyepiece area.
The neoprene covers for the body, eyepiece and objective are a great feature.....as is the tethered clips to prevent losing them.
I can understand that no tripod was included because most people using this scope will probably have their own.
But, I don't understand why Vortex does not include a carrying bag! Come on Vortex!!! Charge us $5 more for one - because you can get the right fit meant for the scope and mass order them.

I've trusted Vortex with many of my shooting optic needs for years, and this year decided to upgrade my 15 year old no-name spotting scope (I believe I snagged it for less than $50 at a sporting goods store). The Diamondback has been as amazing as I hoped, with crystal clear optics and the ease of use I know Vortex for. Well worth the investment!

Alway wanted a good spotting scope but never wanted to spend zeiss money and vortex delivered.
