I purchased these Vortex Diamondback HD 8x42mm Roof Prism binoculars after reviewing their specifications and comparing them to many other, similar offerings. These binoculars provide a crisp viewing experience with easy, convenient controls in a small package. Additionally, the provided case is actually quite a good product, much better than you would expect when purchasing a moderately priced pair of binos. Of course you also get the Vortex excellent lifetime warranty for this product. I have also purchased several Vortex optic products for my rifles, and the successful experience with those products led me to purchase these binoculars. While these are not the most expensive binoculars available, they absolutely fit my need for what I refer to as my “truck binos” - binoculars I carry and use these almost on a daily basis, and they do the job very well. If these were lost or stolen, I would immediately replace them!

Was debating the 8 and 10 power, don't regret the 8 at all! Also think the diamondback line is all you need, glad I didn't get the next ones up because these are clear as can be. Another great Vortex product.

Great binos, the ones I received had a slight aberration or something on the fringe of the right ocular. I imagine this was a defect in this unit only, and would be covered by Vortex's warranty.
Should my assumption be true, these puppies are a great option and comparable to the Leupold BX-2 Alpines.
The BX-2 with the slight advantage on overall quality feel and optical clarity. Quality feel may be due to being heavier and may also lend to me giving the optical clarity nod to the BX-2 over the Diamondback HD.

All of that said, its a great bino for the value.

I’m totally impressed with these binoculars. I got them as small pair for birdwatching and going to concerts. I wasn’t expecting them to be this good!

These binoculars are awesome, very clear glass. Definitely worth the money. I had cheap Simmons before for about 3 years and these are substantially better than those. Wish I would have bought these sooner.
